I tried playing ETW with these drivers, and they do too much damage to use. I want to try rolling back to an older driver, but now I can't even uninstall these one, the Vista CP doesn't even list them anymore, only the nVidia Physx. There must be some way to remove these drivers...

EDIT: Finally gave up in the CP and just uninstalled them from the Device Manager. That got them. Since these drivers seem to be problematic (at least for me), I suggest not using them and stick with something earlier.

These drivers are horrible for my 8800M GTS. Ran 3DMark06 and lost over 800 points. So far the current beta, 195.55 yields best results in Windows 7, both in benchmarks and normal game play.

Installs fine on the M17x Hybrid SLI (9400M G + 2x GTX 280M SLI) without problems in Windows 7, but after cold reboot, the windows loading screen flickers like mad like with all 195.xx drivers on this machine and hangs. No wonder they don't have a mobile 195.xx WHQL version out yet, the driver is too buggy. Hopefully we'll see some good new drivers that work well on laptops with Hybrid SLI like the M17x soon.

There's a new bug introduced in the 195.xx series: now 2D acceleration doesn't work well. To test it just run Windows Photo Gallery in Slideshow mode and you'll see sluggish and jerking transitions between pics... :)

I think something changed in the way a modded inf works since the last time I used one a couple of years ago... When I copy the modified .inf file into the extracted driver folder, it does not overwrite anything and the installer does not work. Do I need to rename the file?

To the poster who asked about the notebook drivers:

I don't know why, but there is only the one - undesignated - 195.62 driver thread.

Even though you can download individual packages from the driver download section outside the thread, or externally, from nVidia.

To the earlier poster who mentioned about the Inf:

Aye, the mobile package for this driver contains 26 separate Inf files, not the old single nv_disp.inf one.

If you want to check, you can extract the executable using an archive program such as 7-Zip, then extract the newly created file named "[0]~" - with no extension - to get at the installation files.

I found which of these Inf files contained reference to my graphics chip by text searching for my Hardware ID, but the nVidia control panel refuses to install and the setup imposes a roll-back to the most recently working driver that you were using previously.

Where does Win7 cache the previous drivers?

I had no copy of 195.55 left on my system and I even uninstalled and used Driver Sweeper at one point.

Windows still pulled an old copy from a cache somewhere.

Where is it located? Can somebody tell me please?

I don't know why these drivers won't install, as the actual 195.62 driver package I downloaded from nV is supposed to be for laptops, and they are also WHQL!

This kind of exposes the non-validity of that particular seal of approval, in my opinion.

I've bought a Clevo based Notebook (W860CU with GTX 280M). Which driver is the best for this notebook. The current 195.62 tells me, that it is not made for the card. Using the modded inf causes in trouble with the display (I'm not able anymore to dim it).
