mobilenvidia
Just a reminder of this little used page and it's one of the best resources out there (no bias of course :)) To make it easier to look for drivers, here are a couple of examples of how the page can be used. Newest drivers by date a good indication of the current 3 series of drivers NVIDIA are working on. Latest Drivers by version only of use for those that demand the latest series drivers You will also (hopefully) notice an area where you can fill in your PCI_ID and SUBSYS numbers both can be found in device manager. Should you fill these in then the filtered results will only show all the drivers that meet your exact setup. Here you can see how I searched for the Dell Inspiron with a go7900GTX (really a GS BIOS hacked) Now there is no excuse to not know which is newest or latest
Angelw1ng
The first page is absolutely useless because you continue to mix vendor-specific drivers with nVidia-authored ones with no distinction between the two. Most people will never stray from the vanilla Forceware releases unless they have a specific need to do so (ie, stability problems). Furthermore, since neither page offers data on user feedback (negative/positive) or performance information (3DMark scores), they're far less useful than the latest "Series" section of the forum. You may as well delete them both if you don't plan on enhancing their functionality. In summary, the site is a mess, but with a little work, it could be much more useful and intuitive. mobilenvidia
All drivers come from NVIDIA they put in an OEM INF for which ever vendor they supply the driver for. The page is meant for driver finding not reporting issues that is why they are also in the forums. You can plug in your PCI_ID and SUSSYS numbers (which are OEM and model specific) and get all the drivers that we ever hosted here for your exact machine. You cannot get any more OEM specific than searching by SUBSYS numbers Most important we specialise in Notebooks and non standard GPU's that are hard to find OEM (non)WHQL drivers for. For plain old desktops the page is a waste to use as any old driver will work (as long as it's not OEM) But yes improvements could be made if we got the INFs supported from a driver then also reported which OEMs the driver was for. Does take a lot more room for the text as some drivers support 20+ OEM's. Links to the forum post could possibly be added in the future as well. But in the end we do our best with the resources we have to keep you guys updated with drivers for your notebooks. None of us are web-designers, we have full time jobs to pay the bills, and come here in our spare time. But the place alas is in a bit of a mess and helpful criticism is most welcome to help us improve.
Angelw1ng
Well, I did send you a big ol' email a while back. :) If you're looking for very specific ideas, please indicate a region of the website and I'll mull it over.
Covert
I'm going to go through some of the things you could improve on/ do more of: Why is there always a +0000 thing? it bugs me Interactive polls in the sidebar More stuff to do with benchmarking More efficient updating of 'latest drivers' in the sidebar Contests? ATi news? even though nvidia pwns I'm still interested in the evolution of graphics cards Laptopblog2go RSS feed in the sidebar course you don't have to do any of this, but I think it would help out a lot. mobilenvidia
Covert that is great, these are the things we need to know about. The driver page will probably not ever have too much info as it would become a mission to program. It's main function is to find OEM drivers really, but more things should be able to be inlcuded in the future. The forums on the other hand some of your suggestions could be implemented there, ie Benchies. The Time thingy I take it is from when we where hosted at UK2.net they were in UK and hence the GNT+0000 I've never noticed this, and why it's great folk can point it out. Keep suggestions coming, will be a good thing to look at into the New Year.
