In desparate need of help

I recently reformatted and installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything is fine until I install any Nvidia drivers. Once Nvidia drivers are installed Windows loads and then I get a black screen before a log on screen appears. I can load safe mode and remove the drivers and windows automatically installs and loads "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter", when this shows up instead of my graphics cards in device manager all is well. I have tried the proper drivers from my manufacturer, Nvidia's site, and here. I have an Alienware m9750 with Nvidia 7950 GTX SLI cards. I have tried refomatting with Vista and I now have this problem with that operating system. Any advice would be much appreciated, Thank you.

Seems to be a common issue with Alienware machines. Does closing and opening the lid fire up the display?

Thanks for the link. Opening and closing the lid doesn't help either :). This thing is driving me crazy!
