UPDATE 2

I worked out why the nvidia setup.exe is not working after you click install.

I shall release a version 1.1 which will:

- Fix setup.exe issue

- Minor fixes to the devices supported database

- Hoping to fix brightness bug for affected gpus

Will be comming early next week for all flavours.

UPDATE

Seems like people are getting issues with installtion. After clicking "Install" in my installer, it will bring up Nvidia's installer,

if after running that and it says system has not been modified, you will have to go to device manager and install using have disk method.

Guide is here:

General comments

Happy be-lated new year everyone. I decided to come back and have another quick go. Seeing as there a few people still using the dox optimised driver, it felt right to make a new release (just dont expect it very often :).

Not much has changed since 185.85 in terms of tweaks, simply because nothing needs to be changed on that front. Done some improvements to the installer adding more options which would be useful.

Hybrid SLI and Hybrid Graphics is back, I noticed some errors in 185.85 with not installing all the files, this time I'm hoping all is well. Supports all current new mobile gpus since I released 185.85 also.

I separated the Vista and Windows 7 drivers into different packages to avoid confusion and easier bug tracking. It is VERY important you download and install the correct driver version for your OS, for example you can install the Vista version on Win 7 OS and Vice Versa but it is NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

There are two new options in the installer to adjust mipmap and powermizer, if you do not know what to do just click the HELP button!

Notes before installing

Uninstall your previous driver before installing these!!!!!!!

Desktop gpu support is removed

Mobile Quadro gpu support is removed

See supported cards to what cards will install

Whats new since 185.85?

- Added CARDS button on welcome page to see supported cards

- Added HELP button in installer for the "System Config" and "Tweak and Install Page", click to see information on each option

- Added Support for all latest mobile geforce gpus since 185.85

- Added option to configure powermizer before installing

- Added option to adjust mipmap level of detail before installing

Full Changes to drivers

ADDED:
+ Mobile Geforce gpu support from 6-"GT300" series
+ Mobile hybrid sli driver functionality
+ Mobile hybrid graphics driver functionality
+ Latest Intel driver for hybrid graphics users
+ Support for all laptops/notebooks models
+ Extra resolutions missing from original set
+ Settings to ensure optimal performance

REMOVED:
- Desktop gpu support
- PhysX software -see readme for more info
- Helps files
- Language files
- Any useless files to reduce size
- Unnecessary reg entries made by Nvidia
- Quadro files from installation

OTHER:
* Powermizer & MipMap options in installer
* Optimised for Geforce cards only
* Improved install/uninstall time
* English language only in the Nvidia control panel

I never tried your drivers, but I read a lot about them and I like the optimizations you made, so I will give them a try later. :)

Thanks a lot for your work.

Got the same problem. It's very common issue with 195.xx. You have to install manually this driver through device manager.

I tried the Vista x64 Version and this one works...strange. maybe a problem with the win7x64 version?

Nope, i think it's problem with registry/files in system, install this driver manually in device manager! Everything working fine, nv control panel too!

I had the same problem.

I ran DOX setup and it didn't install (System not modified). Before hitting cancel, I copied setup.exe from the temp directory and unpacked it in another directory (it contains all the driver files).

I then tried to install via device manager, the nv_dispm.inf is present and it's the correct version, but device manager says that my current driver (standard vga) is already installed.

I think it doesn't match my card (a 9600M GT, VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_3610103C&REV_A1), but it is present in the .inf.

Strange, I'll reinstall nvidia driver while waiting for DOX to shed some light on the problem.

Ok, I modified this line in the nv_dispm.inf and the setup finally works:

%NVIDIA.DEV_0649.1% = Section002, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649

With this:

%NVIDIA.DEV_0649.1% = Section002, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_3610103C&REV_A1

Never had to add the subsys & rev with nvidia drivers and LV2GO modded inf, it matched right away.

I'll reboot and check if everything works.

cheers for the quick feedback guys,

seems like there is a problem with the installing via nvidia's setup.exe

As a workaround like install via device manager after running through ALL the install options.

Yes it worked via. device manager..

Any chance that you can be the first one to solve the brightness issue that some people have (since nvidia obviously doesnt give a sh*t)

Its like 100% brightness = 40% and the lowest is still 30%.. Its driving me insane, having to use old drivers because of this.. I just tried this one and i did indeed have a noticeable performance boost, so its a b**** that this brightness thing stops me. Please help.

REB,

I'll give it ago,

could you tell me your laptop spec and oem?

and OS version, I'll have a look into it, I got a bit of time tonight.

I didnt realise this was a problem driver for alot of people :/

You could try using Rivatuner as a workaround?

I dunno if its alot of people, but still.. Cant be right that they cant fix this somehow after it has been there for the entire friggen 19x.xx series.. Not your fault ofcourse

Specs:

Windows 7 32bit

P8400 2,26GHz

9600M 512MB

4GB DDR2 RAM

Oh and i use rivatuner all the time.. Can it be used to adjust brightness? Still, a proper fix would be great.

Thanks in advance

can't you use riavtuner to adjust brightness as a workaround?

but cheers I'll have a look at Nvidia's Setup.exe and the brightness issue,

I cant guarantee anything soon though.

This driver was a bugger to modify, nvidia's made it really complicated,

I did run into an issue with installing the un modified one using their setup.exe but after I messed about with it it installed fine so...

this is weird.

edit: yeah there is option to adjust brightness and colour etc in rivatuner

Yeah well that isnt really the same type of brightness you know.. Its more like unbearable-to-look at brightness :)

I'm having to install using the 'Have Disk' method, which is fine, but do we use the .inf file contained within the 'Dox/Standard' subdirectory, or the one in the root of the driver directory? I suspect the latter, but just want to make sure.

If you have chosen Standard/Hybrid etc in the setup, then the one you chose is in the root directory.

Choose the one in the root,

I reccommend using my installer to choose your options (i.e standard/hybrid/hybrid graphics first)

then when you come to the tweak and install page choose your options (if you wish) then cancel.

I dont recommend you do this process manually let the installer do it then use have disk method.

cuz it didnt make sense first time round!

Welcome back to the modding bug, once you get it you can't let go.

I know this is probably the most anticipated driver of 2010 :)

Well done and keep them coming.
