Alienware m9700 with Windows 7

I just put Windows 7 x64 on my laptop and I can't get the graphic drivers to work. I have an Alienware Aurora m9700 with dual GeForce Go 7900GS cards. Whenever I install drivers, my screen goes to black at the login prompt and is only visible from an external monitor. Every version of NVIDIA drivers that I've tried gives me the same result. If I boot into safe mode or leave the default Windows drivers on, then I get an image on my screen. Anyone have any ideas?

Seems to be a common issue on Alienware laptops. Does it help if you close and open the lid with installed drivers, i.e. does it fire up the screen?

No, I still have just the external showing anything when I do that.

What you need to do is use the "FN" key, just to the left of the windows "key", and while keeping the "FN" down, press the "F3" key. This cycles through the available options. It actually is using nVidia's control panel to cycle through monitors and type of views, including, clone view, external view, or back to the laptop monitor/display.
