Seem pretty good. I got solid fps playing games. The temps were outstanding (going from a usual 84-88 to an outstanding 77!) but I think it was because the fan went faster and harder than any fan has ever gone- my laptop almost hovered. If great temps are worth killing your gpu fan a little earlier, they're great drivers. I'm not sure whether to keep 'em or switch to Dox's wonderful 195.62.. That is, unless someone can tell me how to manually change the fanspeeds on a sager m860tu..

Who know how install brightness control on my Vaio FE11S with NVidia Geforce Go 7400 and Windows 7 32 bit?

Can you help me?

try pressing the windows key with the x key, this brings up a kind of control centre that you should be able to use to dim or brighten the screen.

There isn't a control of brightness in this control panel.

There is:

- Volume

- Battery

- Wireless

- Select Screen

- Sync

- Presentation

But there isn't a brightness control...

When I first installed these drivers my computer was allready hot and I was really quite scared that since it didn't cool down at all (I use to CPUID HWmonitor to check temps) for a couple of minutes that A, Driver has a higher idle temp or B, There was an issue with the driver.

I make it a habit to use driver sweeper every time i install graphics drivers these days so i don't think the install f***** up. Lo and behold though, just as I was about to warn everyone (err... people reading this thread) the temps dropped UNDER my previous idle temp. I guess the speed stepping is a bit slow or something, I don't know. Something that never happened before was that the temps dropped even further when I unplugged the laptop. SO yea, drivers are cool at least which is about all I know since I can't test them with my favorite game... FS2004. I have a horrible memory so I don't know exactly how many 190 series drivers I've tried but they all seem to have been broke with regards to FS2004, unless I'm forgetting some really early one.

I really, really want to play my FS2004, but I guess I'll have to wait. I'll bring my issues with regards to that game up in the relevant forum :)

Who know how install brightness control on my Vaio FE11S with NVidia Geforce Go 7400 and Windows 7 32 bit?

I am an owner of a very old vaio laptop (VGN FS 215S - 2005 model), and the brightness control has nothing to do with the vga card driver.

Instead, it is controlled from the BIOS, through FN+F5/F6 keys. If this is the case for your laptop, and the keys do not work, you should check that the following software is installed:

Sony Utilities DLL

VAIO Event Service

VAIO Control Center

I do have also something called Sony Video Shared Library, but perhaps this is related to my laptop only.

You can find all these packages in the support page for your laptop, in the vaio sony site. The ones for Vista work fine under windows 7.

I have just installed these software.

The Special Fn Keys work fine, the problem it's that with Fn+F5/F6 I can't control monitor's brightness.

I think that the problem is caused by the driver and INF file.

You mean that the visual feedback about brightness is visible on the screen, the brightness value is increased/decreased by the keys, but no real change of the screen brightness happens?

In my VGN-FS215S, the brightness works through the FN keys, so I am not sure it is driver related.

Yes, is it.

With the use of Fn+F5/F6 the visual feedback about brightness is visible on the screen, the brightness value is increased/decreased for only 1 step, but no real change of the screen brightness.

After, if I use again the Fn Key the brightness value is one more time to the max value.

I know that with Vaio FE21 and some mods at INF file, the keys work done, but I have a VAIO FE11...

Can you help me?

For the VAIO FE21 they add these row to INF file:

[RMCacheLoc_0_AddReg]

HKR,, RMCacheLoc, %REG_DWORD%, 0

[smartDimmer_AddReg]

HKR,, EnableBrightnessControl, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, PanelPWMFrequency, %REG_DWORD%, 200

HKR,, PanelPWMDutyRange, %REG_DWORD%, 0x03E80096

HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak,SmartDimmerEnable, %REG_DWORD%, 300

HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak,SmartDimmerConfig, %REG_DWORD%, 0x00000004

[PanelBrightnessLimits_AddReg]

HKR,, PanelBrightnessLimits, %REG_DWORD%, 0x0000FF32

[PanelBrightnessLimits_90081004_AddReg]

HKR,, PanelBrightnessLimits, %REG_DWORD%, 0x0000FF00

[PanelBrightnessLimits_X_AddReg]

HKR,, PanelBrightnessLimits, %REG_DWORD%, 0x0000D832

[DisableLaptopDigital_AddReg]

HKLM,"Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak",NvCplTreatLVDSasDFP,%REG_DWORD%,0x0

[ModeUnionEnable2_AddReg]

HKR,, ModeUnionEnable, %REG_DWORD%, 2

[MoveDesktopIcons_AddReg]

HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak,NvCplDualviewMoveDesktopIcons,%REG_DWORD%,1

[smartDimmerBrightness_AddReg]

HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak\Defaults,SDIdlePluggedIn,%REG_DWORD%,0xff

HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak\Defaults,SDIdleTime,%REG_DWORD%,0x12c

I know that these rows are taken from the original driver for Windows XP. But they have a GeForce GO 7600 while my Vaio FE11 have a GeForce GO 7400.

i added those rows to the modded inf for the 19805_win7x32 but the keys still wont work :/

i got a FE31z with Go 7600.

any ideas?

do i just need to copy&paste the rows or do i need to replace them?

The thing is that even if you add those entries it doesn't really add them to the registry, I'm trying to add them manually but I just can't get if I need to enter the values in hexadecimal or in decimal.

Another thing that makes me curious is where do you need to paste those lines of codes in the inf file to make it add them automatically? I've already tried under mobile settings and under desktop settings in this driver modded inf and no luck, I've even tried to add them besides the other entries that do add correctly to the registry.

I'll go and keep on trying to add manually and I will tell you the outcome.

Good luck!

Ok, after some minutes I've managed to get the lines to enter to the registry by adding them to the class identifier (where the "AddReg = XXXXX" thing is) and all of the entries went into the registry, however that didn't enable Brightness control in Win 7, I think this isn't the lines that we are looking for..... but I still have my suspitions on the PanelBrightnessLimits line(s)

[PanelBrightnessLimits_AddReg]
HKR,, PanelBrightnessLimits, %REG_DWORD%, 0x0000FF32

[PanelBrightnessLimits_90081004_AddReg]
HKR,, PanelBrightnessLimits, %REG_DWORD%, 0x0000FF00

[PanelBrightnessLimits_X_AddReg]
HKR,, PanelBrightnessLimits, %REG_DWORD%, 0x0000D832

As you can see all 3 of them indicate a single entry so which one to chose??? So far the system entered as it would normally do the last one.

Anyone that can clarify?

And also I would like to get the inf file for the original driver for my PC Vaio VGC-LS25ME in which brightness does work and debug until I get all the missing entries, but I don't know how to extract the inf file or even know if it can be done :) I have the installer and I request to anyone who knows how to do this to teach me please.

Thanks
