applebeepa
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this (please let me know where to go if not) but I have been having problems with my HP DV9700 and my GeForce 8600M GS I upgraded from vista to windows 7 a few months ago with no problems then one day it stopped booting past the splash. I uninstalled the graphics drivers and it boots right up. Basically now I cannot install drivers because HP does not support windows 7 on this laptop. Is there any solution here? Any help/links to other solutions is/are appreciated. Thanks

I had the same problem, upgraded my HP dv9500 to Windows 7 and after a couple of months started getting blue screen of death failures because the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS stopped working. You can get a Windows 7 driver for this GPU at Nvidia: 32 bit win 7/Vista driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_195.62_whql.html 64 bit Win 7/Vista driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_winvista_win7_x64_195.62_whql.html You can boot Windows 7 up in safe mode with network, download and install the drivers as I did. This solved my problem, as I was running an earlier driver version. SteveL

applebeepa
Steve_L Thanks for your help. My problem still persists though. I installed those drivers after uninstalling the others and then driver sweeping and I still go the same problem. Back to the drawing board...
