8600m GT SLI

I'm new in this forum, my name is Tiago, i'm talking from portugal.

I have a Toshiba X200-25F:

Intel® PM965 Express

Intel® Core™2 Duo T9300

2.5 GHz/800 Mhz/6MB

4Gb/DDR2/667MHZ

400Gb(200Gb+200Gb) - 5400 rpm's

DVD Super Multi (Double Layer)

TFT WSXGA+/1,680 x 1,050

NVIDIA® SLI dual GeForce® 8600M GT TurboCache™ 512 MB VRAM (2303mb)

16x PCI Express

I bought this computer 2 years ago, but i'm very sad with this because this is very very slow.

How i can improve my computer?

i have some problems, i have tried subscribe in SLI nvidia zone, but they tell that i don't have SLI, i activate the sli, i search in google, but i don't understand why?

What is the best driver for this boards?

This computer is good? or is bullsh***?

Can you please tell what i can do to improve performance without spend many money.

Is possible convert my 8600M GT in a FX board? and SLI still work?

I work very much with cad/cam (autocad/solidworks/catia/Pro-E)

Unfortunatly with this world money problem i don't have money to buy a new laptop, and tihs is very slow.

Your are my last chance, if you can please help me.

I would recommend upgrading to Windows 7 64bit first and foremost. If your computer has never been wiped clean since you bought it, definitely make time for that. After a fresh install (and hopefully Windows 7), you would need to install ALL your latest drivers. Your 8600m GT will run just fine with almost any of the drivers here. You shouldn't be having any real issues with speed. Your system is very identical to my ASUS G2S. As a proficient Photoshop CS5 user, I am all the time working with large files and mixed types of media. This is of course less strain than CAD applications, but in either case you should enough system for your needs. If you have any other questions, please ask.

Olá Tiago, por incrivel que pareça tenho exactamente o mesmo portatil que o teu, e deixa me dizer-te que estás com muita sorte se o teu unico problema é mesmo a lentidão, o meu é o aquecimento, já vou na segunda gráfica, e de caminho para a terceira, pois já está a aquecer da mesma forma. Se kiseres faz como o ch0sen disse e instala o windows 7 64 bit formatando primeiro o disco onde tens o vista. eu por exemplo comprei rams novas da kingston, dois discos de 500 gb a 7200 rpm. mas o k precisas e mesmo uma instalação nova, como drivers da me o teu mail k eu mando te as drivers k usei pa instalar o 7. para a grafica eu neste momento tenho as 259.47 da microsoft, que aparecem na pagina principal do site. o meu nome é Fábio e o meu mail é fabry_man99@hotmail.com. Ah, para um computador com 2 anos, o nosso portatil é muito bom mesmo, já que consigo correr a maior parte dos jogos actuais com bons detalhes. o unico problema é quando determinado jogoa ainda n tem um perfil no painle de controlo da nvidia, de forma a aproveitar o sli. Por exemplo o battlefiel bad company 2 correr entre 20 e 40 frames, so por causa de n aproveitar bem o sli, e isto com os detalhes máximos. resolução e tudo!!! já n conseguires inscrever te na sli zone, tem a ver com o nosso pc n possuir um chipset pa sli autorizado pela nvidia, o que faz com que mesmo com o sli activo ele diga k n existe sli no computador. um abraço e fico a espera da tua resposta, pois es o primeiro k eu vejo com o mesmo tatil que eu :)
