Driver Update Fails, message "Nvidia Control Panel Cannot Be Installed"

I do apolgize if this has been asked and answered, but I am new. I tried searching the forum before asking but could find any reference.

Tried several times to update my current Nvidia driver 197.16 to the new 258.96 (suggested by Nvidia for my card 9600M GT). I first uninstalled current driver, cleaned registry with CCleaner, ran Revo cleaner, and then ran Driver Sweeper in safe mode. After reboot, I got the standard VGA adapter, no Nvidia which is good. Then tried installing new one. Half way through installtion, I got a message some thing like "Installation stopped because Nvidia Control Paner could not be installed, now reverting to old driver", etc. Tried several times after uninstalling and cleaning up, all failed. I Googled for an answer or useful suggestions but nothing worked, so I decided to ask the experts. By the way, the old driver works fine, but I always like to keep updated.

Issue resolved by installing the driver manually through Device Manager in Conrol Panel without the need to uninstall current driver or using Driver Sweeper, etc.
