Itchy
Hi, I am having difficulty getting some 3D games to work on my laptop’s built in monitor (1366x768, 32bit). The games in question (various titles by Battlefront.com) were working fine previously, but as of 4 weeks ago (or thereabouts) they fail to start with the error message: “Could not initialise graphics display. REQUIRED: 1024x768, 32bit color.” However, if I connect to an external monitor (e.g. my DELL running at 1920x1200) they work perfectly. I have tried various graphics card driver versions (the original driver version 8.16.11.8783 which used to work perfectly as well as various versions downloaded from this website e.g. 8.17.11.9805 with the modded inf, but this bizarre behaviour remains regardless of the driver version. Can anyone suggest what might have happened /what I can do about this as I am at a loss... It is a Win7 professional 64bit OS on a Sony Vaio laptop. Itchy
It turns out that this was due to a hardware problem with the mainboard. A replacement was required. All fixed now.
