Michael Marley
Great seeing you around again, Michael, hope you managed to keep your sanity during the exam period :) Thanks for 6325, although it turns out 6327 is already out there - http://forums.laptop...post__p__137917 OK, it is up to date again now. :)
Guest terl
most drivers give me hardware not detected. and fail....the default windows drivers show that the card is working fine but no sound. The gateway vista 32/64 will not load even when forced.......yours will load but give me that error code. Newly formatted system FDisk'd the drive fresh load first thing done before even plugged into internet was try your driver code 31. Now spend 3 to 4 hours installing all available updates upto including sp1 same error. reload system again install 64bit same. reload again 32 same. reload vista(what came with) and we have perfect sound.reload 7 64bit same error no sound. i have tried new ram,and hd and used different win7 discs even tried a different optical drive....always installed with out the wireless card in and camera physically unplugged. just let me know what to do and i will do it thank you so much
Michael Marley
Did you by any chance try my driver in Vista?
Guest terl
no i used the driver directly from gateway..
Guest terl
should i do that do you think that could make a difference if i use your driver in vista to check then format and reload win 7 i know it is a meaningless gesture but maybe it will tell you something. Let me know i can have vista loaded in 24minutes flat. another 1.5min to load driver i could have a reply posted in 28 minutes or less. then i could reload 7 again (which by the way will be close to 50 times since friday)
Michael Marley
If it wouldn't be too much trouble. I don't know much about code 31 errors. I usually just get code 10.
coolguy16
I did get a Code 31 error once, when I was playing around with drivers. It should be the driver INI settings. You can try removing the filter sections in the INI file and install the driver. Most audio driver installation errors are due to the wrong filter entries. The filter values could be manipulated in the Registry (no need to reinstall the driver). Edited May 11, 2011 by coolguy16

Michael Marley
The stock INI would be dreadfully incompatible with my driver. I use a minimalistic filters section, but it would be worth a try to delete it completely and try again. That seems to have helped some other people with code 10s and BSoDs in the past. Chip DeMoss
Michael - thanks for your your work with this issue related to IDT/Sigmatel drivers for Windows 7. I hope your finals went well. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Windows 7 Home Edition Premium (O/S was upgraded from Vista). Hardware Ids for the audio devices are: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7616&SUBSYS_10280242&REV_1002 HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7616&SUBSYS_10280242 All was fine prior to Windows 7 upgrade and I could access either the built-in digital microphone array or the microphone input jack. The Vista driver is SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio. When I load this driver into Windows 7, either regular way or Vista compatible mode, I can use the built-in digital array microphone, but the microphone jack will not work. When I use the Intel HD audio driver or your modded driver, I can access the microphone jack, but not the digital array. I'm also getting error10 on your IDT HD audio codec (see attached screen shot). Is there any way to be able to access both of these inputs? Michael Marley
It would appear that your PC has 2 HD Audio devices in it. What does the non-IDT device do? Is it an HDMI audio output? Who made it?

I believe it is HDMI output through the s-video tv-out connector (requires a TV/digital audio adapter cable).

Who made it? Michael - I forgot to apply the mod to both drivers. Now here is what is showing in device manager The first instance of the IDT HD Audio, which has the yellow caution flag, refers to location 1 (internal high definition audio bus). I'm not really sure what device this is. The 2nd instance refers to location 2 (internal high definition audio bus). In my recording devices, all devices show as working and refer to location 2 (internal high definition audio bus). The built-in digital array does work, but now I cannot get the 3.5mm front microphone jack to work. Does this additional information help in any way? The problem here seems to be that you are installing the IDT driver on a non-IDT HDMI audio device. You need to obtain the proper driver for that device. If you have an Intel or Nvidia graphics card, then the HDMI drivers will be packaged with the graphics drivers. If you have an ATI/AMD graphics card you can download the ATI HDMI driver from Realtek. Thanks anyway for your direction and guidance. Chip
