rhinox202
Hi Michael, Hopefully your exams went good. As for your mod, I am still unable to use it, including the 6365 drivers. I keep receiving the "Code 10" error. I have a Dell XPS420 and my hardware ID is: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7618&SUBSYS_10280215&REV_1002 HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7618&SUBSYS_10280215 Is there any other information from my system that might help to diagnose the issue? I have replaced the filter section like GeniusAction suggested, but that doesn't make any difference. Thanks for any help you can provide. coolguy16
The HDMI audio in my Vaio FZ doesn't seem to work in any of the newer HP IDT drivers. The last working driver was version 6327. The IDT HDMI audio shows up fine in the playback devices, testing also works fine. But some TV's freeze and some other TV's display a "Not supported audio signal" error message as soon as the HDMI cable is plugged in. I don't know what IDT changed in their newer drivers. I had tried modding various times, changing the INI settings, but in vain.
Guest Audiophile
Hi Mr. Marley, Will these modded drivers work with an HP Pavilion dm1z-2100 laptop that I'm looking to downgrade from Win7 Pro x64 to WinXP Pro x64? I referenced the "unofficial" downgrade guide from HP Forums here, which does say it's only for 32-bit systems, but my laptop has 5GB RAM and obviously I want to be able to make use of the extended memory that 32-bit can't handle. I tried downgrading once before, and managed to get all of the other drivers to work (SATA, monitor, network, even the webcam, which I don't even use), except for the audio, which is IDT. :( In the intro to the thread I noticed that the newer versions you're working on only work with Vista and 7, but there's a link to older versions, so I wonder if my model computer will work with the older drivers, since it's a newer computer which I'm looking to downgrade to a previously released OS. I also found this link from CNET that someone on another site said has worked for a lot of people, but I'm not sure it will work for me. (Strangely, it's listed under Keyboard Drivers rather than Audio or Sound.) There's another driver that's listed to work specifically with 64-bit Windows, but I'm not sure about this one either (especially since the comments indicate Dell users have downloaded it, with no mention of HP). What other information, files, etc., should I include in my request? Thanks in advance, help is appreciated -- and good luck at school :)
Guest Audiophile
Oops :blush1: I missed this part: Does not (and will never) support Windows XP. Don't ask. In that case, though, what should I do to get sound working in XP x64? Or am I stuck using Windows 7 if I want to keep the audio? :(

The Windows XP format for the driver INI files is considerably different than the Vista/7 format, so it isn't very easy to backport support. Just out of curiosity, why do you want to install Windows XP? Especially if you have 5GB RAM, Windows 7 will take much better advantage of your system than Windows XP will. Guest S Day
Michael, I tried your driver stuff and it seems to pretty much work on my Gateway FX8040 desktop with the sigmatel card. Motherboard is Intel D975XB chipset is Intel 82801GB ICH7. I had to make the following jack/name changes. The first name is what your driver install called it, the second is what I found out the jack actually was and did: Playback: Independent Headphones 2 = Front Headphones (renamed) Independent Headphones = SPDIF-In (probably, I have no SPDIF gear so can't test) Recording: SPDIF-Out = Front Mic In (renamed) 1) Mic / Line In Jack = Rear Mic In Jack (renamed) 2) Mic / Line In Jack = Line In (probably, can't get this one to work (see below), renamed) 3) Mic / Line In Jack = Stereo Mix (renamed) Cool thing is the "stereo mix" function finally works after a lot of different drivers and configs (which is what I've been after for some time now). The one thing I can't make work is the one "Line IN" jack (#2 above). I think this one is set currently as my side speakers (in a 5.1 setup). That jack can be set (or used to be able to be set, there's no jack control panel now) to be either "side speakers" OR "line in." Any suggestion as to how to change that to line in? I have a feeling it's set to "side speakers" right now. It always came up as side speakers before (with the original driver set) and I had to change it using the control panel it had. Thanks for what you put together, it's great having the stereo mix function. Just out of curiosity, why do you want to install Windows XP? Especially if you have 5GB RAM, Windows 7 will take much better advantage of your system than Windows XP will. I don't like Win7 much; I'm more used to XP, and am keeping it for compatibility. Even if I use dual-booting, there are certain programs I have that either don't run or have bugs in W7. The expanded RAM is because I like to keep a few programs open at once, and I just find that since XP was designed to run on lower-memory machines anyway (because that's most of what was available when it was released), that I have more RAM available for use, even when I turn off all the eye candy in 7. XP is also better for me in terms of ease of use and flexibility. We have a network in our house on which all the other computers run XP too, and I find W7 iffy when it comes to sharing folders on the home network. It's not economically feasible to upgrade right now, so I'd need to stay with XP for consistency and compatibility. Plus, I'm probably one of the few people on earth who misses the animated dog  I will mod this after my exams are over. Thanks very much :danke: Q: since the driver mentioned is from Intel's site, is it likely that it'll work on AMD PCs? :really: Best of luck and happy holidays! :santa:

Guest jaymz
What's wrong with my Dell Studio XPS 1640? It's vendor id and device id strings already exist and defined in Mike's modded driver, but still says something like that: "your driver is already up to date" on Win 7 x64 with SP1 It doesn't even fall back to the default inf file.. I hope the next release fixes my issue too :( My device info again: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7675&SUBSYS_10280272&REV_1001 Also Intel DP135DP motherboard (Intel doesn't supply drivers for Win7) is not supported.
