I purchased a Lenovo Q150 IdeaCentre to use as a HTPC (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883108536). 1080P Video on Hulu Desktop works fine, but video on Boxee is a little bit choppy. I changed the settings on my system to optimize for best performance, and this helped, but it still needs to be just a wee tad bit quicker. An extra performance boost of a few percent will probably put it over the top. I tried downloading updated drivers directly from nVidia's website, but when I run the installer it says that there are no compatible graphics cards installed on my system. This is strange, because even the "Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products" tool locates an installer that won't install for the same reason (it might be the same installer). I tried downloading the 275.27 and 270.51 drivers from this page ( http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers?dev=0A75⊂=360517AA&whql=0〈=0&orderby=version&dir=desc&os=&os[]=win7x64 ), but these did not install (no compatible hardware). When I try to download the modified INF, I get the error message "Error: The request for '/infs/275series/27527_win7x64/nv_disp.inf' was not found on this server.", so I don't think any modified INF files exist. When I do I get this driver page. http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-275.33-whql-driver.html Could be you have the laptop version of the ION chipset. kuhsay Posted June 30, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) I tried searching nVidia's site directly and I'm pretty sure I tried the two you suggested but neither worked. Is it strange that they link to "GeForce" and "Verde" drivers, despite the fact that I have an ION? (EDIT: Nevermind, just saw that it says "Ion" in supported products) I can try them again when I get back home today just to be certain. kuhsay Posted July 14, 2011 Author Report Share Posted July 14, 2011 I downloaded and installed the Desktop driver and got it working. I had to delete the NVIDIA folder that the previous installed created in C:\ for it to work. For anyone else that finds this thread via google, the updated drivers still did not produce better video, but installing Windows 7 32-bit (instead of the 64-bit that came with it) made the video MUCH smoother. It still occasionally produces horizontal lines in the video during high-motion scenes which are annoying but tolerable. Bill Posted July 14, 2011 Report Share Posted July 14, 2011 I have multiple desktop ION machines and my GF has an ion netbook, and I have never had any issues playing HD video (even 1080p straight high bitrate blu ray rips like The Dark Knight on the netbook). What is the framerate of the video? Is your GPU downclocked or temperature throttling? Are there artifacts or are you seeing a vsyn related issue? I downloaded the file at: http://video.blendertestbuilds.de/download.blender.org/ED/ED_HD.avi and played it with VLC to test full 1080p video. The video seems to play fine with the exception of one or two horizontal lines that show up during very high action scenes (e.g. after the 5:00 mark). The problem occurs mostly when playing flash video... For example, this file will be jittery when viewed in full screen, but its fine in the small screen: http://www.history.com/shows/pawn-stars/videos/pawn-stars-license-to-pawn#pawn-stars-license-to-pawn Running this flash video full screen on my laptop (1280x800) works fine.
