Emperoreddy Posted September 27, 2011 Report Share Posted September 27, 2011 Sony Vaio VGN-AW301J Nvidia 9600M-GT Current version 8.15.11.8640 (version that came with the Vaio in 2009) Windows 7 64-bit Been trying to update my video drivers as Sony issues drivers that are ancient at this point. Trying to install drivers 280.26 drivers with the modded inf, and after the clean uninstall I can get the drivers installed no problem. Windows starts up normally, but after a few seconds I eventually get a BSOD, windows says the file at fault is nvlddmkm.sys. The modded inf does replace the original inf in the extracted files, not sure what the problem is. One note is that I've been installing it with setup.exe since the FAQs say it is safe to do this. Could their be something in the Nvidia package that could be causing this problem other then the display drivers? Thank you in advance.
