NVidia WHQL driver 296.17 is available on Windows Updates for Windows 8 Consumer Preview users.

They can be installed on Windows 7 and Vista (per StefanG3D) as well.

The drivers are WDDM 1.2 in Windows 8 but they are WDDM 1.1 in Windows 7. The driver version is r295_97-7.

The driver cab file is here: http://fg.v4.downloa...422c9207b5c.cab

Download the cab file and unzip it into a new folder then go to Device Manager/right-click Display Adapter/Properties/Driver tab/Update Driver/Browse My Computer/Let Me Pick from List/Have Disk/Browse/Go to driver folder/select the inf file that Windows wants.

There are two cat files. The smaller one looks like yours - you need the big one.

I get a similar looking thing with my nv_disp.cat (Larry there is only one cat file in 296.17)

No matter really, without it the driver won't install in Win8, happily installs Win7 with modded INF

I found a 250MB cat in English yesterday - which, of course, I can't locate today. I think I found the link over at the nVidia forum.

It really doesn't matter though - It had the same installation problems.

With driver 296.17

My cat file after extracting it from the cab is 59.7 KB (61,139 bytes).

My cab file size prior to any extracting is 150 MB (158,107,450 bytes).

My cab file size after all extraction is done is 168 MB (176,527,801 bytes).
