StefanG3D
Did the original drivers from http://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/131;-; work in first place? We can find more drivers if you tell us your device/subsys id

StefanG3D
Looks like everyone ignored your rig :( No entry at Windows update http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=pci\ven_10de%26dev_064c%26subsys_01451025 No support in the Acer OEM drivers or the latest legacy drivers 309.08 and 341.95 That means you must manually edit the INF of each driver you try, e.g. in 341.95 change nvami.inf : ... NVIDIA_DEV.064C.1912.1043 = "NVIDIA GeForce 9650M GT" to NVIDIA_DEV.064C = "NVIDIA GeForce 9650M GT"

the_big_1
I tried that, downloaded it and ran it, I get the following:
mobilenvidia
I see the driver supports the 9650M GS but not the GT Grab attached INF, unzip it then overwrite the one in the 'Display' Folder for driver above (186.84) Run setup I've modded the INF to make the 9700M GT into the 9650M GT Hopefully the 9700M GT section has the required settings to stop the black screen issue nvac.inf

mobilenvidia
Did Windows 7 at fresh install not have a driver ? I seem to remember Sony's having issues way back in time with same 9650 Grab the number I've highlighted in picture but for your machine Google this for a driver, hopefully it will find an exact match

the_big_1
Hi, I have had the laptop about 5 - 6 years now and the card was in it when I got it used so no idea if it was in there when new.
zipper
One more try - this is with a 9600M GT turned into 9650M GT - have a try; I think 9650 is more 9600 than 9700 like - but the difference is probably just on clock speeds. nvac.inf

zipper
Have you checked the temperature of the GFX chip if it is overheating? You could have GPU-Z logging into a file and check it after the freeze. One possibility is to underclock the chip and see if it works longer - using Nvidia Inspector or MSI Afterburner for instance.
