I like that name "GeForce Unexperienced".   :-)

I just got lazy this time and let GeForce Experience install it, because after the installation I can always go uninstall GeForce Experience.

I see that the drivers are located here now too: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

NVidia rep ManuelG has now said: "We are going to release a hotfix driver to address the startup issue for Watch Dogs 2 introduced in the latest driver. The hotfix driver will be released likely early next week. We apologize for the inconvenience. The code which introduced this crash was checked in right before the final driver was created so it was not caught by our normal QA driver testing."

Some more tidbits:

the new branch is mandatory for VRWorks SDK V2.4  and Ansel SDK 1.4

CUDA has been updated to v9.0.103

As expected it supports compute capability 7.0 for Volta GPUs

Surprisingly also compute capability 6.9 is exposed in nvcompiler*.dll

Probably for the "Pascal refresh" GPUs speculated by the usual rumour sites?

SOLUTION FOUND

It's kinda funny, in an odd sort of way.

This appears to have fixed the issue of big fps slowdowns, kicks to desktop, when using NVidia drivers 384.80 and 384.76.

Login to your internet router, and setup port forwarding for the following XBox Live ports (even if you weren't aware you were doing anything at all with XBox Live).

Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
Port 500 (UDP)
Port 3544 (UDP)
Port 4500 (UDP)
