Intel Chipset drivers

I own a Dell E6400 with a PM45 Chipset (Intel 45 Express Chipset). According to the readme from the 9.1.0.1012 driver, it is targeted for "5520/5500/X58", so would this even technically provide for anything beneficial considering they are not designed for mobiles?

Yes, i've also a PM45 Chipset and some drivers (USB Host Controler / USB2 etc.) were updated to newer versions, so i think it's a good idea to check these.

Guest Question

Sorry for a silly question, but intel's site says these are for desktops... are there any notebook versions or are they all the same? (referring to the newest ones)

The chipset support in the first post was associated with 1012 release. There are mobile chipsets listed and as such I would say yes to your question.
