Guest Milagre
I'm using and Inspiron 8500 with a Geforce4 4200 Go and the most updated version of XP Pro, and I've had some problems recently with various video and game qualities and speeds to be below my standards. Yesterday I tried about 8 different drivers, and I found that 42.58 was the best for my needs. However, I'm in college, and I use my laptop in a docking station in my room. Between classes I usually hibernate to save on load time and noise (booting makes more beeps and fan whirs etc.). To my dismay, when I went to hibernate this morning to take my laptop to class with me, I noticed neither it nor stand by were available in the shut down menu. Is it possible to re-enable these options with this driver, or do I need to go on another spree to find one that works well for me? Thanks in advance for your help! ®®®
hi, Hibernation has nothing to do with the video driver. Something in your config must be wrong. Look in your root drive (c:\) and you should see hiberfil.sys. That's it. Same size as your current ram. Also look in PowerManagment ControlPanel and you see a tab called hibernation or sth. It must be enabled.
Guest Milagre
Sorry I didn't post enough information. When I clicked on "Undock Computer" which normally puts the computer in standby, i got an error saying it could not be undocked because of "VgaSave". I assumed this had something to do with the video, for good reason. What do you t hink might cause this problem?
®®®
VGASave is the MS video driver for SafeMode. Are you in SafeMode when you undock :) . No really, don"t know. I never used a docking station, so maybe someone can jump in who knows this problem. But now i understand :P , we had this issue some time ago, someone mentioned Docking problems :) . Pls. have a look at Pieters Site or search the forum for more information. :(

Guest Gialdy
FYI Back a year ago, we did had problems with hibernation and standyby not working right. They were related to the drivers. I think it got fix after 45.23. Hope this helps. :)
