I have my laptop set to "No action" when the lid is closed. With older drivers, with the lid closed, the LCD will turn off while the laptop is still on.. with 61.34, the display goes blank but the backlight will not turn off.

I've tried Pieter's modded 20.60 INF and the original 61.34 INF with the same results.

Anybody have the same problems as I do.. or is it just me?

//merged b/c seems to be a driver specific problem and need to test the new driver discussion section :)

I had the same problem, but finally resolved it. If it's not already there, add the following line to the bottom of your [nv_ControlPanelSettings] section:

HKLM,"System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\LidCloseSetPower"

If that doesn't work, add the following line to your [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] section:

HKR,, OverrideMonitorPower, %REG_DWORD%, 1

LidCloseSetPower was already there..

OverrideMonitorPower wasn't, so I added it under SoftwareDeviceSettings like you said.

I still have the backlight issue.. backlight dims, but doesn't turn off.

Thanks for the help.

In that case, try some different settings for the LidBehavior line:

HKR,, LidBehavior, %REG_DWORD%, 0x11

...where values to try are: 0x11, 5, and 1

...and the MapOSD3ToNV line:

HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV, %REG_DWORD%, 3

...where you can try 3 or 0

Chances are good that one of the above will do the trick.

Thanks for the other settings that I could try.. but sadly, none of them worked for me.

I guess I'm just gonna live with it until a new driver comes out.

If anybody else is having the same problem, let me know if any of those settings worked for you.

Thanks again..

This problem doesn't seem like a specific driver problem... I've tried 56.72 and 60.72 and still have the same issues.

Going to try some 53 series drivers and see if they still exist with the new INFs. With 53.90 and INF 20.36, I know that I did not have any lid closure problems.

Raptor, enough people have reported this problem that nVidia must have heard it by now. If you can get the 53 or even the 48 series to work, you might want to stick with it until a new version fixes it. The 61 series does handle many things differently from previous drivers. Whenever nVidia releases a stable version, you might try it.

In the meantime, I feel your pain. "Do nothing" is my preference too, and for many versions "Do nothing" meant "Leave the backlight on full-blast when you close the lid." Fortunately THAT got solved a few versions ago, so there's hope.

Okay... this has to be an INF related problem..

I just reverted back to 53.03 and I still get the same problems. I know for sure that I've used this driver with Pieter's INF 20.36 with no problems whatsoever.

Off to go INF modding to figure out what caused this.

Edit..

Yup, it's confirmed.. INF related problem. Just reverted back to Pieter's INF 20.22 and problems are gone. Gonna go compare INFs and figure out what the problem entry is.

Source of my problem has been found!

Under [nv_tweaks]

HKR,, dynEngCtrlEnabled, %REG_DWORD%, 2

Anybody know what this line does? After deleting this line, all my lid closure problems have disappeared.

Problem Solved.

Yay!!!

I'm not sure what it does, but that's great detective work on your part. Congratulations!

No longer in my INFs as of v30.09, yes a brand new series I hope to release later today starting with 61.40.

Pieter.
