  • 25-MAY-2005: found and added mobile INFs for v61.72
  • 2004-NOV-10: added v61.78 English only
  • 2004-SEP-21: DELL released a WHQL'd Desktop PCI Express Quadro version of v61.71 for Precision 370, 470 & 670
    NVIDIA_BR02.DEV_00F8.2 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 "
    NVIDIA_BR02.DEV_00FC.2 = "NVIDIA Quadro PCI-E Series "
    NVIDIA_BR02.DEV_00FD.2 = "NVIDIA Quadro PCI-E Series "
    NVIDIA_BR02.DEV_00FE.2 = "NVIDIA Quadro FX 1300"
Some files are different than the release we offer (due to WHQL status?):
    - nvoglnt.dll
    - nvgfx.dll
    - and unimportant stuff like modes.txt etc.
If you need WHQL, then download the original DELL driver ( HERE / 11 MB ) and put the modified INF in the extraction folder)

:: OPEN ISSUES

in v61.76:

- The driver does not support PCI Express under the Windows NT 4.0 operating system. This will be fixed in a future driver release.

- GeForce FX 5200, Windows NT 4.0: Crash in Quake3 ver. 1.32 with Multiview. A fix for this issue will be included in the next driver release.

- Quadro FX 4000, Windows XP, Lightwave 8.0/7.5: Main grid is corrupted on startup. A fix for this issue will be included in the next driver release.

- GeForce FX 5950 Ultra, Windows XP: Deus Ex 2 door button shader disappears. A fix for this issue will be included in the next driver release.

- GeForce 6800: Cannot set refresh rate of 48 Hz for 3840x2400. A fix for this issue will be included in the next driver release.

- Quadro FX 1100, Windows XP, Autodesk Inventor 8: Mipmapping is broken. A fix for this issue will be included in the next driver release.

- If you perform a clean driver installation (no previous NVIDIA drivers installed), you must reboot your computer. If you do not reboot, the predefined application profiles will not be activated and you may experience application stability problems.

- GeForce2, GeForce4 MX, Windows XP: City of Heroes crashes to the desktop intermittently. This is not an NVIDIA bug.

Driver has been uploaded (ta Teraphy) and modded INF has also been uploaded.

Now it's up to you to go forth and play.

The only real difference I can see is that nVidia have enabled the registry tweak to enable SM 3.0, which I had already enabled from 61.45 (hehe)

Driver and INF links can be found on the website.

Enjoy,

Pieter.

I hope the "Color Correction" tab actually keeps the applied vibrance setting after you restart. In 61.76, it doesn't seem to remember it. In fact, I've had this problem with ALL 6x.xx drivers that I've tried so far. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,

John

I would have looked at it myself and told you what was wrong but I had to go to bed early because I had to help out at school today, our new school building is coming along nicely. I will post a picture somewhere when I get then uploaded, also the donation I promised will come tomorrow, my time of course.

Edit: I see you got your avatar fixed up Pieter.

Hey all,

I keep having this problem with the 6x.xx: I would set the color correction (digital vibrance) under the color correction menu and it would work just fine. As soon as I restart the notebook, the color correction goes back to none. As soon as I open up the properties page to the card, the color jumps back to the way I had tried to set it. Does anyone know what the heck could be wrong with this? I'm using Pieter's newest INF for the 61.77 drivers.

Thanks,

John

BTW: I never had this problem in the 5x.xx drivers series.

You've tried 61.12 with the Dell OEM INF ?

Just confirm wether it's my INF misbehaving (unlikely)

The Vibra(ting)nce, could be causing the slider to move back to it's original setting.

After setting the level, press the following key combonations:

CTRL+SHIFT+S+T+A+Y this will fix it :)

Just installed 61.77 on my main partition and it works just fine for me.

It remembers the setting after reboot.

Mmmmm, odd.

Your keyboard can recognize that many keypresses at once?

Wait........that was a joke........ :( :P

I guess its still early, I just woke up.

Also, lmao :) at the joke.

When I set "DisableApplyColorsAtStartup" to 1 it remembers. I just tried to do a TV out and it set it's value back to 0. Also, the TV was in black and white. That's odd... but I didn't have a lot of time to test with. Is there a setting to make the TV picture black and white?

Thanks,

John

*PS - I flashed the Quadro4 700 GoGL with the newest firmware Dell offered for the card. It's supposed to fix LCD issues when doing a TV out.

help! "DisableApplyColorsAtStartup" set itself back to 0 when I click on "Detect Displays" and press OK. What makes that happen? In the 56.77 INF, there isn't a "DisableApplyColorsAtStartup" so I'm thinking it's a release 60 driver setting. Now I don't know why it doesn't remember my digital vibrance settings upon restart, unless I set that value to a 1. Any thoughts as to why it's a 1? Could it be because of the Quadro card? I'm quite puzzled. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

John

Unistall driver completely.

Grab the INF, shove a ';' in front of the DisableApplyColorsAtStartup line.

Now install driver again, it should install with default setting (don't know what it is)

See how this goes,

Why does it forget on your machine (do you have enough memory ? :) I kill me)

I have no problems with this, it must be another Dell quirk.

Pieter.

I do fully uninstall before doing another driver install. I did rem the line out completely. I even made sure it wasn't in the registry under nvtweak, however it adds itself to the registry. This key is being installed byitself somehow. Anyone know what it is?

Thanks,

John

Right here is what I get with the 'DisableApplyColorsAtStartup'

I can set the Vibrance level to what ever and it remembers the settings with it set to zero and 1 in the Control Panel.

BUT,

When it's zero to start with and I reboot it boots into XP with the remembered Vibrance then before finishing the boot process the vibrance turns off ie screen dims to normal level.

BUT vibrance turns on again as I enter Display Properties and the setting is as I set it before the reboot.

When set to 1 from start it works as it should after first reboot it stays on 1 and the vibrance level stays as it should all the way through the reboot, later reboots sets it to zero, but it continues to work.

This is a very odd phenomanon,

What I am going to so is set this value to 1 in future INFs so any with my experience should have a working vibrance.

Also there seem to be alot of folks with black screens after installing these later divers I wonder if this is related, Vibrance has blacked out the screen ?

More investigation is required, we have the Tosh Balck Bar sorted, now this.

Pieter.

Yes! exactly, that's what it does... just as you had described it. It tries to turn on then it ends up turning off. When I go back into the control panel it turns back on. (This is when it's set to 0 just as you said). I have tried setting it to 1 in the INF but something set it back to 0 when I was finalizing my settings with the driver after it had been installed. So something is re-writing it to 0. This is really odd. This also happens when I mess around with TV out settings. If you need help on taking care of this matter, I will be more than glad to help.

Thanks,

John

I don't have the foggiest what is even beginning to cause this.

When I set it to 1 manually it will stay 1 for a couple of reboots then switch to zero, but still work.

When manually set to zero it does as above, it still remembers the setting though in Control Panel.

Something during the boot process is causing it to change, it seems to happen well after the Display drivers have loaded (I can see nVidia icon on task bar)

It leaves the CPL setting but is actually overruling those settings.

I'll have to have a play with this,

Pieter.

Setting the value to 1 then installing driver has the same effect as it set to zero which is does anyway after reboot.

It's as if the driver first sets the setttings that were last used then applies the Hardware default settimgs even though the Control Panel says otherwise.

I could make a reg tweak that set it to 1 when run, would have to run it after first boot.

Mmmm, what is going on here ?

Pieter.

This is really really odd. When yours is going back to 0 are you going into the driver's control panel? Or are you just letting the system be and just rebooting?

After system reboot before going in Display CPL.

If I set it manually if will stay at 1 for a couple of reboots (sometimes).

I havn't got my testing partition up yet, I'll try it with an older driver to see what happens. ie 50's.

I never had this problem with any of the 50 driver sets. I've had this problem with ALL of 60's or as far back as I can remember.

Any luck Pieter? Mine is staying on 1 as long as I don't mess too heavily or at all with the driver configuration.

Thanks,

John

Mine switches to zero, then overrides the settings in CPL.

When it does stay 1, it keeps the settings.

I'm confused I'm don't know what is causing this.

Pieter.

Is there any way to force it to stay at 1 all the time? I am sure their must be a way to force it to NEVER change.

Edit: I checked the registry edititor, it looks like you will need a special program to do that.

The Forceware driver is changing it on reboot.

I have no idea how to change this, might be another tweak that does it.

Pieter.
