I succesfully installed 65.73 (your moded inf/thanx!) and work now on my laptop which is TOSHIBA Satellite Pro M10.

(for those interested, no noticable improvment - office usage a bit video+DVD - still slow playback of heavy HD format .mvw video like the coralreef_1080p demo from crosoft's site, slow transparent window while move etc. /no games-3D benchmark sorry. obviously its due to my 32Mram and slow CPU)

ONE PROBLEM:

UNFORTUNATELY if I standby, I CANNOT RETURN... blank screen...

I spent an hour reading all treads on standby problems (thanks people for contributing) BUT: no hope... (I run SP2 ok, and

LidCloseSetPower is included (in the inf) ).

Please note: my initial problem (thus the upgrade) was that after installing SP2 I had Driver Version: 6.14.0010.4634 (English)

which after returning from standby (yes it did then) and a while, it was making windows explrorer giving strange redrawing errors grabling all over the screen especially during directory listings folders/files side-by-side window format. moving window arround would redraw clear, but then again after a while same problem.

any help, welcome,

cheers,

-S.

p.s. what do I do meanwhile? I hibernate instead (works fine)

32mb is less, that's right, BUT you got a helluva fast mobile CPU !! Don't get distorted with Intel naming scheme, but your Pentium M 1,7 GHz is MUCH faster thsan my Pentium 4-M 2,0 GHz. One of the reason is your 1 MB L2 Cache which is double the amount compared to the 512 KB in P 4-Ms.

Your problem with standby should be fixed if you apply the MapOSD3 thing and set it to 2 or 3.

  • 65.73 and 65.90 are very similar drivers, with none of the problems we've seen in previous 65.xx and 66.xx drivers. Benchmark scores are good and very consistent.
  • 66.00, on the other hand, has some odd exceptions:
    - 3DMark01 never completes. After running all tests, instead of displaying a result, it just loops back to the first test and runs again ...and again ...and again. So no 3DMark01 result this time around.
    - We've had at least one machine report a driver failure on installation, though it seemed to work okay after a reboot.
    - We've had at least one report of Warcraft features not working with 66.00.
  • Morrowind's interior lighting, which was mishandled by 65.62, works fine with all three of these drivers, which have reverted to the traditional 5x.xx/6x.xx architecture. It appears nVidia has abandonded (at least for now) some of the more radical changes we saw in 65.62.
  • 65.xx and later drivers are fully compatible with both SP2 and DX9c, so if that's your need, give 65.73 or 65.90 a try. 66.00 needs a bit more time to mellow.

NOTE: In all three of these drivers, if you want to apply external color settings to games (including digital vibrance, brightness, contrast, and gamma), you need to create or modify an Application Profile on the Performance and Quality page of the nVidia Control Panel.

You are perfectly right dontknow-what I know is that you certainly know what you're saying...

I just changed INF from 3 to 2 and works...

HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV, %REG_DWORD%, 2

SO FOR TOSHIBA it is 2 !

(2 and returns from standby fine, with 3 as already said gives blank screen)

so, guys: another biiiig THANX!
