Guest johndude
I succesfully installed 65.73 (your moded inf/thanx!) and work now on my laptop which is TOSHIBA Satellite Pro M10. Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) Language: English (Regional Setting: Greek) System Manufacturer: TOSHIBA System Model: Satellite Pro M10 BIOS: v1.50 Processor: Intel® Pentium® M processor 1700MHz Memory: 512MB RAM Page File: 270MB used, 978MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Display Devices --------------- Card name: GeForce4 420 Go Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce4 420 Go DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0175&SUBSYS_00101179&REV_A3 Display Memory: 32.0 MB Current Mode: 1600 x 1200 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Default Monitor Monitor Max Res: Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6573 (English) DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 8/2/2004 21:03:00, 3772032 bytes WHQL Logo'd: No WHQL Date Stamp: None VDD: n/a Mini VDD: nv4_mini.sys Mini VDD Date: 8/2/2004 21:03:00, 2627328 bytes Device Identifier: {D7B71E3E-4235-11CF-646B-1A2002C2CB35} (for those interested, no noticable improvment - office usage a bit video+DVD - still slow playback of heavy HD format .mvw video like the coralreef_1080p demo from crosoft's site, slow transparent window while move etc. /no games-3D benchmark sorry. obviously its due to my 32Mram and slow CPU) ONE PROBLEM: UNFORTUNATELY if I standby, I CANNOT RETURN... blank screen... I spent an hour reading all treads on standby problems (thanks people for contributing) BUT: no hope... (I run SP2 ok, and LidCloseSetPower is included (in the inf) ). Please note: my initial problem (thus the upgrade) was that after installing SP2 I had Driver Version: 6.14.0010.4634 (English) which after returning from standby (yes it did then) and a while, it was making windows explrorer giving strange redrawing errors grabling all over the screen especially during directory listings folders/files side-by-side window format. moving window arround would redraw clear, but then again after a while same problem. any help, welcome, cheers, -S. p.s. what do I do meanwhile? I hibernate instead (works fine)
®®®
obviously its due to my 32Mram and slow CPU 32mb is less, that's right, BUT you got a helluva fast mobile CPU !! Don't get distorted with Intel naming scheme, but your Pentium M 1,7 GHz is MUCH faster thsan my Pentium 4-M 2,0 GHz. One of the reason is your 1 MB L2 Cache which is double the amount compared to the 512 KB in P 4-Ms. Your problem with standby should be fixed if you apply the MapOSD3 thing and set it to 2 or 3. ®®®
:: UPDATES :: DETAILS v65.73 Desktop driver for 2K.XP, filedate 02.08.2004, released 28.08.2004 MultiLanguage, no Setup included, with WHQL certification released by FUJITSU these are looking very good, havn't got the problems of all other 65.xx drivers. v65.76 Desktop driver for 2K.XP, filedate 18.08.2004, leaked 08.09.2004 MultiLanguage, Setup included, no WHQL certification :: OPEN ISSUES :: ISSUES RESOLVED :: OPINION [*by LSudlow] 65.73 and 65.90 are very similar drivers, with none of the problems we've seen in previous 65.xx and 66.xx drivers. Benchmark scores are good and very consistent. 66.00, on the other hand, has some odd exceptions: - 3DMark01 never completes. After running all tests, instead of displaying a result, it just loops back to the first test and runs again ...and again ...and again. So no 3DMark01 result this time around. - We've had at least one machine report a driver failure on installation, though it seemed to work okay after a reboot. - We've had at least one report of Warcraft features not working with 66.00. Morrowind's interior lighting, which was mishandled by 65.62, works fine with all three of these drivers, which have reverted to the traditional 5x.xx/6x.xx architecture. It appears nVidia has abandonded (at least for now) some of the more radical changes we saw in 65.62. 65.xx and later drivers are fully compatible with both SP2 and DX9c, so if that's your need, give 65.73 or 65.90 a try. 66.00 needs a bit more time to mellow. NOTE: In all three of these drivers, if you want to apply external color settings to games (including digital vibrance, brightness, contrast, and gamma), you need to create or modify an Application Profile on the Performance and Quality page of the nVidia Control Panel. :: BENCHMARK [*by LSudlow] Driver.....3DMark01.....3DMark03 53.03........6963.........1335 53.04........6965.........1332 53.06........6976.........1333 53.30........6940.........1335 53.81........6943.........1337 54.01........6833.........1307 56.55........6744.........1306 56.56........6731.........1304 56.64........6661.........1277 56.72........6822.........1308 56.82........6591.........1271 58.21........6803.........1308 60.60........6536.........1190 60.72........6826.........1253 60.80........6484.........1186 61.11........6446.........1186 61.12........6639.........1215 61.21........6620.........1213 61.40........6697.........1269 61.80........6702.........1271 62.01........6896.........1308 62.11........6897.........1308 62.20........6890.........1307 65.62........6776.........1301 65.73........6806.........1307 65.90........6806.........1308 66.00........****.........1309 These results can be discussed in the Benchmark Section of the Forum over HERE.
