Any word on the stability on these? Are they really necessary or do they have any major enhancements in them?

Edit:

*smacks self* I thought these were things that you had to manually download, but I see that Windows Update does this... Don't answer that.

WU (Window Update) is "personlaized" to your Laptop/Desktop PC hardware and software so it might not show all updates. Thats why this thread exists, to inform about any updates that may be downloaded seperately and fix special issues.

WUtooL

Our program is a good companion to Windows Update. Windows update is required because of things like the MSBlast worm and other problems. But saving updates on a local drive is rather difficult for users. The updates are immediately removed after installation. This is not convenient and you will have to download the update pack again if you wish to patch any other computers with the same version.

WUtooL will solve this problem. Launch the program, then go to the menu and click File >> Windows Update. WUtooL will take control of the download and save the patches to a special folder on your hard drive. Updating your operating system with this program is very simple.

For example, now you can safely reboot computer while you are installing several updates. On the next restart, WUtooL will offer to continue your installation. The program has several new and convenient features such as command-line parameters, etc.

For Windows XP SP2 users !

Microsoft has considerably changed updating routine, so you can't save hotfixes by previous versions of our program.

Since all WUtooL 1.xx versions store patches in the same way, just run WUtooL_1.16.exe and copy new executable to the previous location by Wizard.
