Only a 42.xx driver works for my. all other 50th, 60th and 70th don't work...
The self-made converter will override the faulty driver? Or am i missing or confusing here something?

Anyways, we always appreciate a guide/HowTo or similar with pictures etc. and will find a good place on the website for it. The TV-Out problems are still present for some of the users, so there would be defenitely need for such a workaround with your converter. :)

I do not know much about scart or whatever, (we do not use it here or something) but with s-video converters, some work differently than others, or atleast the Dell ones do.

My laptop has a special S-video connector that is also a composite and S/PDIF output, while I can plug an S-video cable directly up to the laptop, I have a special adapter that has all 3 outputs on it.

I would not be surprised if I bought an S-video to composite adapter from a store and it did not work with my laptop.

Edit: Some adapters convert the signal from S-video to composite differently (or wrong), so that is why some do not work with some things.

I will post some pics of my adapter shortly.

Bill

Edit: This is what came with my laptop from Dell:

You can't do S-Video out without the adapter? The S-Video pinout corresponds to that of Dells output. The other pins would then be used for S/PDIF I suppose. So then I can see a S-Video to Comp. adapter working. Though I in the stone age with no S-Video and only Composite on my VCR so no field work on my part :)

I agree with Teraphy.... the Dell adapter probably just does the Digital audio and the video signals.... Composite is basically just the Y/C signals in one pin versus separate Y/C signals like S-Video cable. It's not like it would need transcoding or anything which would be needed to get from SVideo/Composite to Component. My JVC and Mitsubishi SuperVHS VCR's are 16 years old but they do have SVideo output.

Ok, with my laptop, I do NOT need that adapter to use S-video, as you should gather from the pictures, as for what I meant about adapters not working, I have heard from some people that bought S-video to compsite adapters for their PC that some adapters did not work with their PC, but some did.

Anyway I will let you guys discuss how they work, basically why I said that about adapters not working is because of this:

ok, I should have now a solution. I have to make my own svideo-composite converter... seems to be easy...
For some reason the adapter he has is broken or does not work at all with his PC, so he needs to make his own working one.

Hello,

I still have a problem with the TV-Out

http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?showtopic=6595

Here you can read it

My screen isn't working right (watch the movie in the post)

I think the problem is in the five lines you gave from the original inf!

Do you guys have any though what it could be?

thx

Jeroen

btw: I can't test now because my laptop is in repair now (screen was messed up by the five lines)

@ Korpowsky: Be sure to remove those five lines from your inf because i think it is possible you get this screen problem too, because i hadn't delete them and i had it on my desktop too!!!!!

The five lines came directly from your original inf so they shouldn't be the problem. The AVI file looks like a failed TV chip to me. Let us know what the repair shop says when they send it back to you.

Good luck!

Still have a question about those five lines, I'm like 99.9% sure the problem was with those five lines, because now I use the 71.24drivers again with the 30.50Performance inf without those five lines, and I haven't got any problems. I hadn't got problem before to (I used the drivers 2 weeks and than I sew the TV-out didn't work, when I added the five lines the same day my screen didn't work annymore) so I think they give a conflict with something else in the inf...

Isn't it needed te replace the original lines by those five lines and not just adding it in the [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] section??

for example replacing

HKR,, DisableTVOutBIOS

by

HKR,, DisableTVOutBIOS, %REG_DWORD%, 1

in the [nv_ClearRegistrySwitches] section

,replacing

HKR,, "TV Out"

by

HKR,, "TV Out", %REG_DWORD%, 2

in the [nv_ClearRegistrySwitches] section

,replacing

HKR,, DevicesConnected

by

HKR,, DevicesConnected, %REG_DWORD%, 1

in the [nv_ClearRegistrySwitches] section

,replacing

HKR,, ModesetBlankDelay

by

HKR,, ModesetBlankDelay, %REG_DWORD%, 150

in the [nv_ClearRegistrySwitches] section

OR

;HKR,, ModesetBlankDelay, %REG_DWORD%, 1

by

HKR,, ModesetBlankDelay, %REG_DWORD%, 150

in the ;if upon reboot after install you have a black screen remove the ';' from line below and reinstall driver. section

and replacing

HKR,, D3d_22355415

by

HKR,, D3D_22355415, %REG_DWORD%, 0x75006102

in the [nv_ClearRegistrySwitches] section

OR

HKR,, D3d_22355415, %REG_BINARY%, 02,61,00,75

by

HKR,, D3D_22355415, %REG_DWORD%, 0x75006102

in the ;Performance settings section

sorry if it is a bit indistinct (hopely indistinct is correct, i've watched for it in the dictionary.. lol) but this is the only way I can say it... Maby that was the problem that caused the problem with my screen

oh btw: In the repair shop they didn't say anything, it was a silly saleswoman who even didn't know what main board was (there was a paper with my notebook where stand that hte main board was replaced..) so she couldn't say me what the problem was or something

No, the [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] section is all that is needed.

The [nv_ClearRegistrySwitches] section requires the key location and value name (i.e. HKR,, D3d_22355415) only as when an uninstall occurs it looks in this section at keys to remove. No values are needed/used.

The first three keys are the only ones that are related to the TV.

HKR,, ModesetBlankDelay, %REG_DWORD%, 150

HKR,, D3D_22355415, %REG_DWORD%, 0x75006102

can I ask why these lines are needed for If only the first three lines are related to the TV? Is it necessary to add those 2 lines, because maby they cause the problem I had with my screen...

Hi, Jeroen...

All five lines came directly from your original inf, so I thought your machine might need them. If you don't need them, just discard them.

Good luck

OK, but I think the problem with my screen is with one (or more) of the five lines... I think the 4th (and the 5th) line(s) is/are the problem...

Could the problem also be that I add those five lines to the performance inf...? I didn't try it to add them to the untweaked inf, maby that is the problem??

I haven't correctly followed this topic, but it all is a matter of try, reboot, and error or success :) That's how Pieter and all others started. And it's a long way :) to success.... not to demoralize you....

Actually you are one of the few ones who can really appreciate and now know what WORK and TESTING was and still is behind the mobile INFs Pieter, Larry and back in the days also Teraphy always offered for FREE

:P

I really don't think any of the five lines hurts anything. The last two lines only affect Direct3D performance and how long your machine waits when changing screen modes. There's nothing there that would hurt your machine.

I definitely think you need at least some of the lines to get your TV out to work. Try adding the lines one at a time, starting at the top. When you find the ones that work, save them in a separate text file and add them to any inf you use. They should work with both the performance and standard infs.

OK thx.

I will try it this week or in the weekend and I will let you know wich one(s) work (so other people with the MD41300 could use the TV-Out with the modded drivers to) I will post an inf that is only for the MD41300 (with the five or less lines added).

I think I found it to make it work!

If you add these lines everything will work perfect (for those ones with an MD41300 laptop from MEDION)

HKR,, DisableTVOutBIOS, %REG_DWORD%, 1
HKR,, "TV Out", %REG_DWORD%, 2
HKR,, DevicesConnected, %REG_DWORD%, 1

you need the add them in the [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] section of the inf you use.

I have attached a modified 30.51 Performance from Pieter's site.

You should use this inf ONLY with the MD41300 laptop form MEDION with the 71.24 drivers!

Thanks all you guys who helped me by giving those lines from the original inf,...

:)

You guys are realy great, everybody with a laptop should need to know this site!!!

Keep up the good work! :)

Jeroen

Edit: I have reposted the inf that it only can be used with the GeForce Go5300 or Go5350 So that nobody gets in trouble like I had (using this inf on a different video card can damage your video card)

Jeroen, although I see you are using the performance INF, I've added the "fix" to the Enhancer page and linked back to this thread. With all future updates you'll be doing a lot of modficiations/postings as I saw your 71.50 INF as well. In the long run that'll be a lot to do :)

Thanks for all the work on this fix :)

  • 1 year later...

Hi,

got maybe the same problem upgrading from 4x.xx drivers to 9x.xx (from a gf4 to galaxy 7600gt)...composite video out is not working, and I'm going mad trying to find out if it is a driver problem or what. If there is someone still around here which can help, I'll be grateful. S-video is working but in b/w, when I try composite for a moment colors are displayed but immediately all turns to blue screen. I've tried some 9x.xx drivers, same problem, and even a modified 8x.xx one too.

Thanks

GF4 users should not use drivers past the 7x.xx mark...
