Some good news and bad news. Bad news first:

When I first got the laptop I screwed up the second partition and deleted all the preinstalled software.... maybe the driver was included in there... and this laptop model is very new, thats why no downloads are available yet, I got it through a friend so no CD's came with it :)

Good news.... these drivers aren't that bad at all. I set the clock to 300/600, and 3dMark01 score went up to 14480. I think it can still go higher. Here are the details, if someone can tell me where to find the drivers in my computer I will upload them (where to find them within XP)

Display Device 1/1

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 Driver 7.1.7.0

Description NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600

Manufacturer NVIDIA

Total Local Video Memory 128 MB

Total Local Texture Memory 128 MB

Total AGP Memory 256 MB

Driver File nv4_disp.dll

Driver Version 7.1.7.0

Driver Date 1-14-2005

Driver WHQL Certified true

Max Texture Width 4096 px

Max Texture Height 4096 px

Then why not collect the files manually from your system32 dir and help dir and INF dir. Need to go to marriage now, can somebody make a filelist for the GUEST what the names of the driver files are and post it so he can 'collect; them in a folder and zip it? :)

there's v71.10 from toshiba here: http://download.laptopvideo2go.com/nvidia/70series/7110.exe

you can download extract it to a folder, open a command prompt in the folder and type "dir>71.10filelist.log" and then find the corresponding files (compare and stuff).

Nice laptop btw.

Oh goodie, you found it. Toshiba's TruBrite screens are BEAUTIFUL. I'm playing UEFA Champions League 2004-2005 in widescreen... looks even bette r than my TV. However their support might not be too great I heard. But the thing is quiet...... and the air ventilation is warm. Can't replace my room heater, I'm afraid :)

i was in hurry and my description is a bit short, what i meant is creating a filelist from the 71.10 driver and then search the 71.70 files installed on tyour M40 with help of the filelist.

MY standby mode problem is back again with 71.81 driver. I can't get rid of blank screen without rebooting.

It seems that setting "MapOSD3ToNV= 2" in the new nv4_disp.inf (30.56) does not do the trick like 71.80 before. :)

Is there any other trick that might help?

Thanks.

There's a new thread about the Standby/MAPOSD3 settting. Trying to introduce a new INF with the correct setting for every GPU (MAPOSD3=2 or 3). We need testers for that, so you might be a ggood candidate to test the new INF layout. For me (GF$ 460 Go DEV_ID 0179) it works, Pieter GF2 Go also works correct, but more testers like you are needed :)

Counter strike source as in the thing that comes with HL2?

You should try some 67.xx or 71.xx drivers, like 67.02, 67.03, 71.24, ect.

Let me summerize what I did in the past few weeks:

1) install 71.80 driver with 30.53 nv4_disp.inf --no problem with standby recovery when MapOSD3ToNV is set to 2.

2) install 71.81 driver with 30.56, MapOSD3ToNV= 2 --cannot recover from standby mode.

3) roll back to 71.80 and try 30.53 again--still cannot recover from standby mode.

Some *dll files are probably still from 71.81.

4) the same 71.80 driver and beta *.inf from

http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?showtopic=6779

--still cannot recover from standby mode.

That is about it. Something in 71.81 just does not want my laptop to get out of the standby mode. :)

Maybe I should try a clean installing of 71.80 from step (1). I forgot the proper procedure to do this. Can someone give me some hints?

Thanks.

I would get DriverCleaner Pro from here, then after uninstalling the Forceware drivers, restart into SafeMode and do an NVIDIA cleanup.

Read the DriverCleaner instructions fully first. :)

Well, I'm running the 71.84's now and they seem nice! Good speed and IQ, so far.

We 7Zipped them and put them up for D/L over at TweaksRUs, and we have the XTreme G 75.90's up for D/L now too.

Cheers!

ok.. i did some benchmarks with the 71.25 and the 71.84

my laptop:

Clevo D900T

P4 3,2Ghz

512MB DDR2

GF 6800Go

per default, the 6800 is clocked 250/600, but officialy it should be 300/600

3DMark05

71.25 [250/600] -- 2766 Points

71.84 [250/600] -- 2960 Points

71.84 [300/660] -- 3505 Points

as you can see, the new 71.84 gave me a 7% increase in 3DMark05.

Overclocking the Ram by 10% and setting the Core to it's official 300Mhz (+20%) made my score jump 27% higher compared to the 71.25!!!

Aquamark

My score didn't improve in this benchmark with the newer driver.

Overclocking [250/600 -> 300/660] made my score jump 13% - from 42371

to 47833

woohooo! finaly i'm a regged member :)

did some additional testing

installed the 71.84 with peter's inf (previously via the original inf)

in aquamark my score improved by ~400 points (47833 -> 48200, overclocked)

i also installed the 75.90 and was amazed!

with the 71.84 i scored 42371 points, with the 75.90 i got 43573 in the first run. in a second run i scored 44303!!! thats +2000 :)

and overclocked [300/660] i scored 49700

so... ugrading from 71.25 to 75.90 and overclocking gives me a 17% increase in aquamark!
