Guest Inspiron8100
I would like to buy a laptop. I want it to be with a wide screen. 13.3? seems to small and 15? to large. Therefore I would like to go with 14? WXGA. What laptop would you recommend? It looks that only Gateway is having 14? WXGA screen, but I?m not sure about quality of their laptops. Guest Inspiron8100
What do you think about Sony VGN-S480. I was lookin this laptop in the store and it looks beautiful. But it has 13.3" WXGA monitor, and for some reason the bottom was so hot!? Problem with heat?
Bill
Get yourself a laptop with a 15.4 inch WUXGA. (1920x1200) The Dell Ultrasharp screens are especially good. You will never want to go back... Anyway those Dells that have the Ultrasharp of those own, like the IXPS for example. I have an Ultrasharp screen, and while it is older, the quality is really good. (its 15 inch 1600x1200) You can increase your DPI too if you think you might have problems reading stuff on the higher resolution screens. You should post how much you want to spend and what you will run on that laptop (games, rendering, just email/word, ect) Maybe you should get a laptop with a GeForce 7 go and MXM, so you can upgrade the graphics card in the future.... The GF 7s will be out really soon, Ronin already has the GeForce 7800 GTX, and it is supposedly really, really fast. He can't say much because of an NDA though... Guest Guest
Thank you Bill. Unfortunately I already have Dell 8100 SXGA 1400x1050 and I'm not happy at all. Playing with DPI setiing doesn't do anything good. That's way I really like WXGA resolution 1024x768. What is a difference between 14" Widescreen XGA TFT Active Matrix (1280 x 768 max. resolution) and 14" Ultrabright Widescreen XGA TFT Active Matrix (1280 x 768 max. resolution) I think I will go with Gateway. Any major complaints about them? What is Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 ? Thank you, Dan
Bill
First stay away from any integrated graphics, (especially that particular one) get a real nvidia go card. (or ATI if you have turned to the dark side) About the screen, doesn't the manufacturer tell you the difference? I would assume the Ultrabright one has better quality. Atleast that is the obvious asumption, and it should be the obvious choice for you if it is, especially if it cost more, which is a pretty good assurance that it probably has better quality. With Dells, the Ultrasharp screens always have the best quality on laptops. What games do you play, if you play any?
Guest Guest
The ChemBook 2030 has a WXGA 14" widescreen (1280x768), GeForce Go 6400 64M graphics (with TurboCache), and is under $1300, decently configured.
