Guest stranter
I am close to buying the Chembook 2030 (from discountlaptops.com) - 14 inch screen WXGA, 1.6(7?)Sonoma, 1.25 GB of RAM 60GB 7200 RPM Geforce go6400 with 64mb of ram and Turbocache that *should* put it up to 256. All that and it says it weighs 4.9lbs with 6 cell battery. Discount Laptop just released these benchmarks: Chembook 2030 - 1.86Ghz Sonoma, 1.25Gb DDR RAM, 80Gb (5400 RPM), XP Pro SP2, Geforce Go6400 64mb Ram with Turbocache 3DMark 03 and 05 Results: 3065 - 3DMark 03 1061 - 3DMark 05 PerformanceTest Results: 275.1 - Pass Mark 412.3 - CPU Mark 340.2 - Memory Mark 394.1 - 3D Mark 175.8 - 2D Mark Detailed Report http://www.notebookdiscussions.com/showthread.php?t=114 The site claims that the 3dmark 03 scores are better then a Pentium M computer with a 128mb ATI 9700 (i.e. Chembook 2056 --> Compal CL56) I haven't really kept up with benchmarks or mobile GPU's since 3dmark 2001 and back then it seemed that you needed >8000 to play everything decently. Any thoughts on these scores, the notebook, or the gpu would be appreciated. Thanks. Edited July 7, 2005 by ®®®
®®®
Pieter was in contact with DiscountLaptops.com for ChemBook2371 i think. I read a bit in their forum and it can be said that these guys know what they are talking about. Also they have nice pricings and great support. Though i wouldn't recommend a 64MB card for these days anymore (even if it's a Go6xxx)
Guest Guest
i have a s560 sony with the 6400 and it works well on farcry. i'm getting 3000s on 3dmark03 with old drivers. i overclocked just a little and got it up to 3200s. overall i'm very pleased with it. zipper
I am close to buying the Chembook 2030 (from discountlaptops.com) - The site claims that the 3dmark 03 scores are better then a Pentium M computer with a 128mb ATI 9700 (i.e. Chembook 2056 --> Compal CL56) I'd say they exaggerate a little... A mobile 9700 does easily almost 4000 and about 4500 wth o/c. I perhaps made a mistake when buying go5700, but I hadn't searched enough info. But go7800 is to be the next one!
