NiBiTor (NVIDIA BIOS EDITOR) Support needed!

Mavke

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to get all the Mobile NVIDIA BIOS's that are listed on the forum? I ask because I have been sending now around 7-8 mails and each time I have to wait 15min before I can send one. I want these to do a big update of NiBiTor (NVIDIA BIOS Editor), this to support these BIOS for overclocking and modding...

You may all send em to : mavke@mvktech.net

Which BIOSs are you interested in?

Hey ®®®,

Thanks for that, well we spotted that we currently only support a 2-3 types of Go BIOSes (Go 5200 and Go 6800 a nd a Quadro Go...).

So we want at least several BIOS's for all Go series going from the GeForce Go 5xxx Series up to the Go 6xxx and to come Go 7xxx Series... And it doesn't matter of it is the same GPU, with only one BIOS a GPU we are not able to make sure the Tool will work 100% so the more BIOS's the better so we can do some testing and make sure all work fine at the new release!

Thanks to all who want to help out!

Just to provide a list what we look for...

GeForce Go 7 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 Series (to come?)

GeForce Go 6 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 Series (Normal & Ultra)

- NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 Series (Normal & TE)

- NVIDIA GeForce Go 6400 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200 Series (Normal & TE)

GeForce FX Go 5 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5700 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5650 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5600 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5200 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5100 Series

Quadro FX Go Series

- NVIDIA Quadro FX Go 1000 Series

- NVIDIA Quadro FX Go 1400 Series

So the more BIOS's the better and then we can start doing some extra coding. Lol. :)

Welcome Mavke, you'd surely want a GF2go BIOS ? :)

Maybe do a new thread with what you after, we'll sticky it.

This has not started very well (messy)

We're always glad to help out others that compliment what we do.

Okay and where should I start the thread? Cause I emailed 10 guys on this forums and none have responded so... I am just waiting to make sure we can do something for the Go Series but so far nothing.

Just post it here, put everything you want, need desire in it and I'll sticky it.

The people will need instructions on what to do etc, if it's done at your palce or here etc etc

The lads are probably asleep as it's in the middle of the night in the US, so hence maybe lack of replies.

Just tell me what you need and I will get you mine (Go6600). Detailed instructions would be great!

Okay so I would like all the GeForce Go Series BIOS's from every notebook/laptop that uses em and all versions...

Just to provide a list what we look for...

GeForce Go 6 Series

- NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 Series (Normal & Ultra)

- NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5100 Series

Quadro FX Go Series

- NVIDIA Quadro FX Go 1000 Series

- NVIDIA Quadro FX Go 1400 Series

So the more BIOS's the better and then we can start doing some extra coding. Lol. :)

How to get the BIOS, basically backup the BIOS?

Well you will need to create a bootable DOS floppy/CD-Rom and dump the BIOS to the floppy or your HD (if it is accessible to DOS, so non NTFS formatted). Once you have a bootable DOS floppy you should use nvFlash (best to use is nvFlash v5.13).

nvFlash v5.13 / or the LaptopVideo2Go VideoBIOS utilities thread.

Then start up your Laptop/Notebook with this bootable DOS floppy and nvFlash and type:

"nvflash -b backup.rom"

The BIOS will then be save as "backup.rom". Mail that one to me and include which BIOS it is (Brand, Type, Amount of Memory...)

mavke@mvktech.net

Or if you want to have it a bit easier we made a kit that you will just have to extract on the bootable DOS floppy.

MVKTech Flash/Backup Tool

This version has a menu...

>> 1. Single Backup PCI-E/AGP Card BIOS

>> 2. Dual Backup PCI-E SLI Cards BIOS

>> 3. Single Flash PCI-E/AGP Card BIOS

>> 4. Dual Flash PCI-E SLI Cards BIOS

>> 5. Exit

And the Backup BIOS is saved under "Backup" directory on the floppy... Just email the ".rom" file... :)

Edit: in case DOS doesn't work out for you (no Floppy available, no USB-Stick-Bootability) or nvflash is not able to backup your VideoBIOS (as it's included in the SystemBIOS of your LAptop), try using NERD which dumps VideoBIOS easily in Windows.

I have some mobiel BIOS lying around, but first here's a brand new released BIOS for Quadro FX 3400 PCI Express in case you're interested in.

NOTES:

- After applying this video BIOS to a NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 Graphics Card having video BIOS 5.40.02.17.02, the hardware subsystem ID changes from 0x01FF10DE to 0x029B10DE. As a result of this change, the operating system redetects the video card and an updated driver must be installed.

- Microsoft Windows users must install driver version 61.82 (or later).

- Linux users must install driver version 66.28 (or later).

- 2 versions included:

* v5.40.02.41.04

* v5.40.02.41.06

FIXES:

- Enables the 3-pin DIN stereo connector.

Gotten the BIOS's and we are checking! And thanks ®®® as well for the BIOS posted. If all post the BIOS's here then that is fine by me. We are currently checking the BIOS's as some report an issue on the integrity checking, but that might be normal... So manual checking needs to be done... We will keep you all posted. And let the BIOS flow in hehe. :)

Would you also happen to have that 5.40.02.17.02 version of the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 PCIe BIOS? As I miss that one hehe. :)

I also wanted to thank AJH for sending his BIOS, we will be checking it out as well. He made a backup with NERD, but that one seems to be bad on our first check... So if possible try using nvFlash to backup from a bootable DOS floppy, as from within Windows it always misses around 1kb of valuable data... :)

which NERD version did AJH use? The latest contains quite some new enhancements concerning the BIOS dump.

I will split the topic beginning HERE & move it to the Support area as it's most likely the area where most people read. Also i added your 'wanted' list, which could be more detailed with DEV_IDs :)

v5.40.02.17.02
Unfortunately not.

Well the BIOS from AJH is corrupt all the way and it is linked to being dumped from within Windows. The new version of NERD I am going to try bit you can be 99% sure that is doesn't dump the BIOS correctly and adds Windows specific data to the BIOS which screws up the image.

We have tried to include that function in NiBiTor 2 versions ago but didn't implement it as Windows doesn't allow for NVIDIA card to dump the BIOS correctly and straight from the card... Ofcourse it might always be that someone finds a way to do it correctly. I will check NERD and give some feedback, but we currently would rather see the bootabled DOS floppy with nvflash as backup means for all BIOS's. :)

Here's another package this time from Alienware for 6600 and 6800:

6800Ultra_AGP

6800GT_PCIE

6600GT_PCIE

6800ULTRA_PCIE

AW provided ISO format, seems you need to Boot from it and have a play in dos with nvflash trying to access it. I wasn't able to extract the ISO image.

Well it seems we might have finally a tool to dump the BIOS from within Windows! namely ATITool... yes strangly enough it was first only for ATI cards but now also working on NVIDIA cards as the support gotten added.

ATITool v0.25 Beta 7

0.25 Beta 7

--------------------------------------

- Added Dump BIOS for NVIDIA

So that will make live a lot easier to get the BIOS's!
