mobilenvidia
My quick thoughts after installing. No Powermizer bars yet for us older GPU owners. When installing the driver doesn't default to max resolution, will instal in 800x600
LSudlow
Pieter, I suspect it's defaulting to Clone Mode on installation, which is why you're seeing the 800x600 resolution.
mobilenvidia
I know why now, I didn't add the Laptop support bits and other stuff in the middle of the INF. I was being so careful with compressing and uploading that I buggered the modding up. New INF 30.83 is up and is what it should have been from the start :) The driver will install with old INF but some may eperience Lid closure/resume problems. Desktops will have no problems at all. mobilenvidia
Updated INF to v30.84, added some more tweaks to it.
Guest Pistenko
Well after you updated the inf, we get the usual ntsvr service crash on shutdown. Please change it back :)
mobilenvidia
I need the change or I can't resume from standby. Look inside the INF (text editor) for these lines: [MapOSD3ToNV_2]HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV,         %REG_DWORD%,  3;Set the above value to 2 if you experience Resume from Standby/hibernate problems [MapOSD3ToNV_3] HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV,         %REG_DWORD%,  3 ;Enable this for Centrino/Dothan based CPU based laptops ;HKR,, MapOSD4ToNV,         %REG_DWORD%,  3 Set both of these HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV,         %REG_DWORD%,  3lines to 2.Now reinstall and see how you with the lid problem. Most users need it set to 3 (like me) to have the resume work properly. Hope this helps.
Guest Pistenko
So i set both values to 2 instead of 3?
Guest Pistenko
CHanging both values to 2 still makes ntsvr32 service crash on shutdown & restart. Gotta be something else you changed in the updated inf.
mobilenvidia
I can't emulate your problem, the driver installs and uninstalls just fine for me. I assume you tried an earlier INF and it worked ?
Guest Pistenko
Yeah i did, but i overwrote it woth the updated one. Any way i can re-download the old inf again?
mobilenvidia
Was it the very first INF I made or second as the current one is the 3rd. It would help to narrow it down. What are your specs ?
Guest Pistenko
Centrino 1.8 ghz, 1.5 gb ram, GeForce Go6600 But i did not test standby or hibernate with the first inf. just noticed that it would shutdown & restart without any ntsvr32 crashes. mobilenvidia
Right, I've remade the INF that I posted here first. It's attached. Give it a whirl. Remember this is basicly a Desktop INF so you may experience the inability to resume from standby (as I did) nv4_disp.inf
Guest Pistenko
Works like a charm with your attatched inf. No ntsvr32 crashes on restart & shutdown Can resume from Hibernate Can Resume from standby Perfect - nice job. Might be your older graphics chip / card that requires the extra enties in the inf. But this one works 100% on a Go6600
Guest Guest
I have a 6800go in a laptop.. which inf should I use?

Guest Cuz
Hi I have the 30.82, 30.83 and 30.84 inf file. Which one should I use for a 6800go in a laptop? Thanx
Guest Pistenko
I'd try the attacthed one if i were you. Or people with Go6xxx display at least. The attatched one works 100% for me and I'm using a Go6600
Guest Cuz
You mean the one in the first message? So the 30.83 one?
mobilenvidia
Pistenko, Could you please try something. Look in the INF (again) for same section as before : [MapOSD3ToNV_3];Set the value to 2 if you experience Resume from Standby/hibernate problemsHKR,, MapOSD3ToNV,         %REG_DWORD%,  3 ;Enable this for Centrino/Dothan based CPU based laptops ;HKR,, MapOSD4ToNV,         %REG_DWORD%,  3 Can you remove this the ';' from the front of this line and then install again. ;HKR,, MapOSD4ToNV,         %REG_DWORD%,  3 This is the other value that can affect standby/resume in more modern machines. Any help here appreciated to help find a cure and still have laptop settings. You may find that your lappy will use more power using this desktop INF. Guest Guest
81.26 with 30.84 works fine on my dell i8600 with a gfx5650. video-overlay works, standby and powermizer works, hibernate not tested/enabled.
Guest Pistenko
mobilenvidia, You want me to modify the attacted inf with the remarked setting or the one linked at top by the driver?
mobilenvidia
The pne on top please, as the one above doesn't have those lines.
Guest Pistenko
Didn't test the modified driver on my laptop yet, but did test the 81.26 driver (the one from guru3d) on my workstation (GeForce 6800GT). Cant even start a game without getting loads of gfx errors. Funny thing is that they all run perfectly on the laptop with has a Go6600 chip and is almost identical to the 6800GT (128mb vs. 256mb and a few minor chances, but same features).
