v81.26, 81.28, 81.33 XP 32bit | NV

I'm new to this forum and have the ACER Aspire 1710 laptop with Geforce FXGo5700 which was updated once last year. This year I realized that my card was listed as not supported on the Nvidia Driver Download Page.

So I downloaded this driver(v81.26) along with the modified .inf file and installation was fine. I noticed a significant performance increase after installation. But there were problems. They are as follows :

1. Video did not play. PROBLEM SOLVED by enabling VMR in Video Overlay Settings.

2. This is a strange texture problem which I've noticed for the first time while playing GUILD WARS. I do not know if this has been addressed before. The overall FPS and speed of the game had improved but this TEXTURE problem was there when I changed my character's armour and in the inventory items.

I have posted a few images below which show the texture problem :

Is there any way this could be resloved WITHOUT reverting back to older drivers ? Please Help :)

All 8xxx drivers are alpha drivers and not recommend by nVidia.

Suggest you revert 7xxx.

8xxx promise to increase performance but wait until a more stable set comes out. Apparently they go official in October anyways to counter ATIs new products.

I encountered only one problem with these drivers. When I switch off backlight (Fn+F6), the display looks like rolled on barrel (taskbar is in the middle of the screen and that part which is cut on the top comes from the bottom) when switched on again.

This is the first time I encounter such a behavior. :)

Used the INF Pistenko also uses.

- No error message when clossing down again.

--> NFSU2 runs extremely slow.

i am having troubles with video playback whenever i install the unofficial driver for NVIDIA on my m200. It shows blackscreen with Audio and if i downgrade to factory revision of the driver, it starts working fine so i am sure its the driver which i causing this issue, is there a way to solve this on v81.26, thanksss

Check the "Enable VMR" box on the Overlay Settings page of the nvidia control panel. That should fix it.

Guest Pistenko

The new WHQL drivers are in fact NOT WHQL. At least not on my GeForce 6800 GT which is included in the WHQL list. Also they will corrupt just about every game and exiting World of warcraft, the whole desktop freezes. Beware people. Ive had them installed on my laptop (Go6600) and they seem to work fine there.

Yes I think the WHQL is never going to work seeing the INF that was included is 2 days newer than the Certificate.

No matter the driver is exactly the same with ot without WHQL, the only differences are the modes.txt file and the INF

81.26 drivers are working good on the go5700... bench looking good. Only problems i see so far

Divx decoding: audio/video out of synch

Game playing(Hl2, CS, DOD): texture problems such has hand being black or environment having pink hue to floors inside buildings

Any hints on how to solve?

other than that the fps on just about every game went up... and things are looking good

Was able to play counter strike source at 1440x900 , trilinear and everything else set on high at around 75~80 fps... 800x600 was about 110fps

81.33 is a tiny bit faster than 81.26 for me.

No problems to report, game or video.

81.82 seems to be a good driver.

You can even have a preview of the upcoming new Control Panel.

  • 3 weeks later...

when i updated to the 81.26 from 77.76 ( i was absolutley thrilled with 77.76)

my clocking frequencies .. got changed.. and could not even be overclocked to the same numbers.

it used to default at 300/550... then it defaulted to 102/250.. and could max out overclocked at 205/600.

i rolled back nad it was still the same .. loaded 71.84.. still no good so uninstalled

all and fresh install 77.76.. nad back in buisness.

any ideas? is mt card a little too old for these drivers

Get hold of a prog called driver cleaner or anyother prog that will clean the registry and windows of nVdia files.

Unistall driver reboot in safemode

Now run driver cleaner.

Reboot again and install the display driver.

Hopefully all will be back to normal.

Guest sam bartle

Hi,

This may seem like a weird place to reply to this.. but its the only page that mentions the 6700XL card that is in my desktop Medion PC..

This driver installs on it which nVidia ones do not, i was just wonderng if the original poster could provide info on how this is done so that i can modify later drivers (which i will make available on my website if people want them) to do this as the later ones posted here do not seem to include this support. (they complain of not supporting the device and will not even complete install)

I will aim to get any other functions that do not work on the card (as it has specific outputs that ive not seen on any nVidia card (Real SCART Socket Out on the back of the PC for example) working too of course.)

Many Thanks,

sam (i better go become a member.)

You'll need to add

NVIDIA_NV43.DEV_0147.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 6700 XL"
to the ; Localizable Strings section in the INF

And

%NVIDIA_NV43.DEV_0147.1% = nv4_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0147
to the [NVIDIA.Mfg] section of the INF

Some INFs may require more work.

Grab my INFs if you like, just a wee plug where they come from is all I ask :)

Enjoy
