I tried out these settings too, but no help. Maier, are you saying that there are some ForceWare versions from the 80 series that have worked without problems?

Now that would sound even stranger to me... :) (not that I really know anything about the FWs, though)

yes, 81.26 and 81.33 worked for me, I had 3600+ 3dmark05 scores.

mobilenvidia, these settings didnt work either, but they solved my powermixer problem that the gpu didnt clocked to 2d mode, now they do.

I noticed that when loading the test in 3dmark this takes more time compared to the other drivers that work oke.

Takes more time? Are you sure, that sounds like a pretty detailed observation, but if it's true... hmm, memory speed not quite right? (just firing shots to the dark here)

If you are getting such as huge performance hit with the new drivers perhaps they are not running at full 3D clock speeds when 3d apps are running. They could be getting throttled.

To get an OSD in 3d apps of your cards' current clock speeds, GPU RAM usage, temp etc install RivaTuner and use the Riva Tuner Statistics Server.

Install RivaTuner, get it working, leave it running.

Start RivaTuner Statistics server - no shortcut is created for the statistics server so you will have to use Explorer to start C:\Program Files\RivaTuner v2.0 RC 15.7\Tools\RivaTunerStatisticsServer

After starting the statistics server a new icon should appear in your system tray.

Open the RivaTuner GUI - NOT the statistics server GUI

On the RivaTuner Main tab click the first "Customize" button and select Hardware Monitoring (5th icon)

A new window opens named the Hardware Monitoring Display (has graphs)

Click Setup in the bottom right corner

On the Hardware Monitoring Setup screen click Plugins

On the Active Modules Plugin screen tick the Plugins you want and click OK to close the page

On the Hardware Monitoring Setup screen select each plugin info item (etc temp) one at a time and click setup.

On the Core Clock Monitoring data source setup page TICK Show xxxx in on-screen display and click OK to close the page. Repeat this step so all plugin data is shown on-screen. (hint - GPU temp in system tray is useful !)

Click OK to return to Hardware Monitoring Display.

Now we have configured our plugins to display data on-screen we can close the Hardware Monitoring Display if you want by clicking the X in the top right corner. RivaTuner Statistics Server will continue to run in the system tray.

Now, when you use 3D apps the FPS, temp, clock speeds, GPU RAM used should be shown on-screen.

hmm, I tried that, and as far as I can tell (what the monitor showed) the clocks where right... there WAS a shortcut to the statistic server, BTW

I'll try the 81.33 FW to see whether it works normally, like Maier said.

With a FS m3438 and 81.85 drivers, if I go to prolonged sleep mode (excuse me for english) and go back to Windows I see a window saying that my video card has been slow down because of an excessive temperature. But my video card temperature is near 40°C so it's a bug. The drivers think the GPU is over heating and so they slow it down. That's why we have poor performances with these drivers (and some previous drivers have the same issue).

Long time lurker here! Thanks for all the work and modded infs!

What is the difference between these drivers and the 'mobile edition' provided over at tweaksrus? Are the drivers here simply 'stock settings', other than allowing for mobile users to install them?

I might add the above settings anyway as they won't do any harm.

Although PerfLevelSrc is changable for lower end GPU's.

I'll see if I can dig up some more tweaks in the OEM INFs from an earlier driver.

As for Tweaksrus, their INFs are based on my INFs (very bascily my INF with performance tweaks added)

They do a lot of testing on the performance/Quality side, I specialise in getting the most out of drivers.

My standard INFs are not performance or Quality enhanced, I just enable all pages, hidden settings etc.

Then in my Performance/Quality INFs I add the known performance tweaks.

The INFs here are usually a few version ahead of the rest.

There are temp control tweaks as well, I'll dig this up as well.

Try some of these:

;Some core tweaks

HKR,, EnableCoreVoltage, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, EnableCoreSlowdown, %REG_DWORD%, 0

;Upper temp limits I think these are in degF

HKR,, ExtTempHighLimit, %REG_DWORD%, 118

HKR,, LocalTempHighLimit, %REG_DWORD%, 115

;Disable Powermizer

HKR,, PowerMizerEnable, %REG_DWORD%, 0

thouse tweaks didnt work for me, but i'm not sure if i copied those good (copied them under mobile_tweaks), my temp went down with about 10 degrees, from 60 to 50. I now noticed that the memory speed didnt went up. here is an screenshot:

3dmarktest17pu.jpg

I think the core clock of 450 is a bug, this must be 100. In the test the core goes to 325 wich is the normal speed, but the memory stays at the low speed.

Edit:

After some more trying i noticed something is clocking the mem speed down. after reboot i opend hardware monitor, the speeds 325/600, after a few seconds it went to 325/220.

Edit2:

when i try to overclock with rivatuner, it detects a mem-speed of 220 in stead of 600 :)

i cant overclock it to the normal speeds, it keeps getting back to 220 :)

I've added some of the above tweaks to the INF.

They will need enabeling first for you guys.

Edit the INF and remove the ';' infront of any tweak you want to enable.

Then install driver as normal.

I can't add these as standard as it will affect other GPU's, but this should make it easier to play with and experiment

Also gives a starting point to put other tweaks.

I think these F-S owners keep forgetting to say Thank you. :)

What does the RivaTuner onscreen display show for the clock speeds when running 3D games ?

If the clock speeds aren't sticking, ensure MANUAL overclocking is enabled in nvidia control panel, download, install and run ATI Tool BETA VERSION and use it to adjust your clocks.

Hey mobilenvidia, just a thanks from all the Amilo 3438G user for all your help so far. The driver that works best is the 81.33 (or the latest working at least), so this should keep us going until the problem is official sorted. Otherwise im officially going to insert this laptop into Mr Fujitsu's arse.

Yes thank you very much. This bad performances issue on F-S is not fixed yet and we hope it will be soon. Don't hesitate if you have another command lines that may solve that. I'm sure it's all about temperature control. The drivers slow down the GPU because they think it's overheating, which is not the case.

I think I found what is the problem with FS. The drivers think that the GPU is over heating (but that's false : GPU temp between 40 and 60°C) and force slow down the GPU. I don't know how to fix this.

This driver might have lower tolerences then 81.33 and slow up quicker.

Up higher in this thread are a couple of Tempurature control settings

;Upper temp limits I think these are in degF

HKR,, ExtTempHighLimit, %REG_DWORD%, 118

HKR,, LocalTempHighLimit, %REG_DWORD%, 115

The above are 47 and 49 degC respectivly a little low.

Try adding these to the INF, they are in deg F.

Set it to say 60degC= (60+32)*9/5 = 166

So set the 2 limits to this :

;Upper temp limits I think these are in degF

HKR,, ExtTempHighLimit, %REG_DWORD%, 169

HKR,, LocalTempHighLimit, %REG_DWORD%, 166

Add this to the INF under the [Mobile_Tweaks] section.

This should (hopefully) raise the point at where the GPU lowers the speeds.

I can't guarantee this will work

I tried these settings but to no avail. I do wish Fujitsu siemens would pull their finger out their arse and fix this.

mobilenvidia i tried those higher temps, but i dont think it worked. Normaly the throttling temp was 105 C, and now they are still that. But it is high enough.

normaly if you overclock with rivatuner and your going back to stock speeds the "default " button gets grey. when i overclock my mem from 220 to 600 it is getting grey so it sees 600 as my default clock speed but it starts with 220 :S

Edit:

I cant overclock it either, the speed doesnt change. but I can underclock it to 200, that is working.

Edit 2:

I now underclock it to 190, this works to. but now if i want it back to 200 or 220 this isnt working anymore. Things getting stranger :)

Maybe this is the problem, when the gpu clocks down the mem cant get up anymore

I thought i solved the problem, but i didnt :)

I clocked the mem speed to 600 core 325. In rivatuner I selected apply overclock at startup, i also enabled force 3d perfomance. It al went oke.... for 10seconds, then it clocked the mem back to 220 :angryfire:

Hi guys, does anybody noticed the driver in the nVidia website that for GeForce 7800 go (Official nVidia Mobile Forceware)? First.... i have Compaq Presario with GeForce 4 440 Go 64MB - i just took the INF file from the latest Compaq driver Release - i think it was 72.30 and put it with minor changes insted of the INF file that came with the 7800 nVidia Driver... Powermizer is still dead - but it seems that my Laptop Perfomence is better :) just to let u know guys

Hmm i found it out.

I downloaded the offical driver from nvidia and if you run the installer it creates a map:

C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Temp\{A3F0A8F4-DDD8-4C77-8F16-D59483BC98D6}

Something like that, you have to act quick. If the install fails, the map will be deleted. So while its running replace the inf file and it works :)

Hello ppl,

I have a problem with the latest offical drivers (81.85).

For some reason my TV-Out doesn't work anymore.

Also the option to select "Force TV Detection" has disapeard.

I Have tryed nvTweak to fix it, but no use.

It works with the 70 version drivers but since the 80 it stoped :) .

Does anyone know an solution to fix this?

Thx in advance,

BlackDex.
