Guest OGmAXiFY
HP Pavilion ZD7000 GeForce FX Go5700 Current Driver - 81.33 Last usuable - 80.40 (at first it was usuable, 3 months later unusable) Windows XP MCE 2005 (everything updated) Ok, first of all, I am no computer newbie, so when I first started experiencing this problem I did everything I could in my mind think of, virus scanning, spyware detection, upgrading/downgrading video drivers, upgrading chipset drivers, etc. etc. you name it, I tried everything to fix it, then I just came to a dead end, so I would appreciate the help of anyone who thinks they have an idea.! OK, the first time I started having graphic slow downs (2 FPS) is when I played a game called NBA Live 06, it worked flawlessy for like the first month, I was using the driver version 80.40. Then suddenly 20 min. into the game it would slow down for no apparent reason (i shutdown all tasks when playing this game), this consistently started happening. Now to this day, any kind of games with 3D is slow when it first starts up. Even the DirectX Diagnotic D3D tests are slow. Interestingly, now even when I play videos in Windows Media Player, it is extremely slow as well. This is when VMR is enabled! when I turn off VMR it gives on and off black screens with diagonal lines from my desktop background. any suggestions would help, I will attach the NERD File. thank you. alexandertyler
Couple of things: Do you have your P2P program running in the background while you play? If so that would cause all of the problems you described as I have experienced something similar when I was running my P2P in the background. The other thing is, what temperature is your graphics card when you are playing games? Is it overclocked? Also, what quality setting do you have set in the nvidia display properties? You can try shifting your image settings to high performance under the performance and quality settings and see if that makes a difference. You can also do a full uninstall of the drivers, use driver cleaner pro in safe mode, and then do a fresh install of drivers. Driver Cleaner Pro I think has a free trial and works specifically to clean out graphics card and audio card drivers. Have you changed screen resolutions or AA or anisotropic filtering settings recently? Maybe someone else who was using your computer my have inadvertantly changed them. Also, what speed steping do you have for your CPU? Have you recently upgraded the CPU? If you have you may also have to upgrade your MOBO Bios in order to recognize the CPU at it's actual clock speed. Let me know what's up and we can brainstorm some more. -- Alex
Guest OGmAXiFY
Nope, never ran a P2P program in the background. As far as the temperature, I never had a utility to check it. I haven't overclocked it, I tried overclocking it once to see if it would fix the problem, but didn't do nuthin..... Okay, I put the slider of image quality all the way to High performance, didn't help. (Its on Quality by default) I've done a full uninstall with Drivercleaner back to 77.89, the drivers on nvidias website and unfortunately that didnt't help. I have not upgraded my CPU but I got my motherboard replaced in May 2005. But it ran perfectly up until I started to use the graphic card intensely. Oh by the way, I have the back of laptop propped up about 3 inches to allow proper airflow. Dont know what CPU speed steping is? I know all hardware accerlerations are on full. alexandertyler
I'll see if I can come up with any new ideas and get back to you. -- Alex
alexandertyler
Have you tried completely uninstalling the game(s) and then reinstalling with all of the appropriate new patches etc? Also, try running your games in 800 X 600 or 1024 X 768. Turn off Anti-Aliasing and also Anisotropic filtering. Have you done a full spyware/malware/anti-virus scan? Also, use a utility program like System Mechanic Pro to clean your registry and compact it. Defragment your HD using Disk Keeper Pro or Perfect Disk and also do a boot defrag. These last three will help improve our overall system stability as well. Let me know how it goes. -- Alex
alexandertyler
I totally forgot to mention, did you clean out as much dust from the vents and such as you could? This could lead to overheat problems and diminish your graphics card if not your entire system. When cleaning the fans with a vacuum, use a plastic toothpick or paperclip to keep the fan blades from rotating so you don't damage the ball bearings. Good Luck, -- Alex :)
Guest sunstone
please take a look here: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?showtopic=8240 for a sudden drop in framerates. Change your driver.
