Modded inf to use 43.45 with 6600GT?

Hi Guys,

I noticed that you guys mod older drivers to suit newer cards.

I know this isn't a laptop question but.....

Is it possible to mod the 43.45 drivers so that I can use them with my 6600GT?

These are the only drivers that I can use with my older game reliably and I'm desperate to get them working with this card.

All help truly appreciated,

Cheers, Neil :)

Your wish my command.

Now remember that the go6600 wasn't thought of when this driver was made.

So anything can happen, but it should install.

Attached is modded INF with both go6600's added.

Enjoy, and tell us how you got on.

Wow, you ROCK :)

Sorry for the late reply, will give this a go as soon as I can set up my dual XP boot.

Now that's what I call service.

Thanx heaps, will let you know how I went on.

Cheers, Neil :)

Hiya,

The drivers with the inf added seemed like it skipped most of the install and the card was still looking for drivers after the reboot. I was wondering myself about the mention of the Go6600, and maybe there was a misunderstanding as I have a 6600GT. Maybe this is why it didn't work this time?

Is it possible/necessary to have 6600GT listed instead of Go6600?

Thanx again for your patience and help with this.

Cheers, Neil :)

I'm sure you had the go6600 up the top there :)

Anyway here is another INF where I added both 6600GT's (desktop)

Enjoy

Ok,

Tried installing the drivers using the installer, it skipped half the install again and was still looking for drivers after the re-boot.

So I tried using the "have disk" method but when 6600GT was selected from the list (well it was the only one to choose) I got an error message saying "a section in the inf could not be found".

I'm not sure if anything further can be done, I sure appreciate the help you've given.

Cheers, Neil :)

Right, this time no tweaks original INF with just your GPU's added.

Give this a try, we'll get there eventually :)

This is probably the driver can't recognise your GPU.

It should have worked as I just added the lines for your GPU.

What you could try doing is forcing the installer to install as a go5200.

This won't do anything nasty.

Ok,

The only gpu listed is the 6600GT. How do I force the installer to install as a go5200?

and which INF should I use to do this?

Cheers, Neil :)

You won't be able to run setup.

Use the original INF

You'll need to do a driver update install (seehere)

Now when you get to step 11 unclick 'show compatable hardware' and select GF5200.

Install and your away.

If this doesn't work then nothing will.

That didn't work, same error as before.

Oh well no probs, thanx for your help anyway :)

If you come up with anything else at all I'll be sure to give it a try

Thanx again,

Cheers, Neil :)
