I am not able to adjust the brightness level of my backlight both in the bios and with Fn+"up/down". here is my hardware specs

I8200

2.4Ghz P4-M

1.25GB RAM

80GB HDD

GF4 440 Go 32MB

15" UXGA Screen

Forceware 82.10

anyone know what would cause this? I would like to get better battery life but cannot dim the backlight at all. Thanks for any help or suggestions

Are you still in warranty? If yes, report the problem to Dell, you'll most likely get your screen replaced (happened to me once).

Is this a new problem for you, or since when did it appear?

I have the UXGA lcd and GF4 440 Go 32MB with Bios 4.17.00.55.C2. Previously had bios C1 but newer bios made no difference. I guess I could try my old GF2 card and see if that makes a difference
