salzrat
I just found out that one of the two DIMM slots in my C840 went bust. When I put some memory there, and only so slightly twist the laptop (or carry it somewhere), it freezes. Must be some small gap in the PCB somewhere. Does anybody have an idea whether it's possible to fix this?
Bill
Got any pictures? You will probably have to replace the motherboard and then make sure its all secure in there. (can you re-inforce the laptop case with super high grade steel alloy? lol :) ) Back to stuff that is really feasible, what all RAM does this? Have you tried different sticks in that slot, what about with the RAM cover off, does it freeze when the cover is not on, it could be putting pressure on the stick. Just be carefull with the cover off, if anything hits the uncovered ram slots...
salzrat
:) Yep, tried all that... I swapped in different RAM sticks into the two slots, and it's always DIMMA which hicks up. I can apply pressure to the DIMM and the slot itself ok, but if I twist the case a bit, bammm... This got worse just recently. Must be some hairline fissure on the PCB itself. I guess I'll just buy a 1024MB stick for DIMM B...
