mobilenvidia
Here are some of the issues I'm having with 61.12. 1) No nView Control panel, I can't get this to work at all. 2) Notepad has big issues with this driver, a known problem with 61.11 as well. 3) Outlook Express doesn't like this driver at all, it just sits there frozen. I would NOT reccomend this driver to any one, It's very much a beta driver in my opinion. Stay with 55 series drivers. Pieter.
mobilenvidia
After many hours of testing various things. I got nView to work (phew), had to remove all the nView extras that worked up untill 56.82 (very odd) Anyway it's back. Now the bad news Notebook and OE are driver related problems and nothing I can do will fix that. So v20.53 of my INFs have the nView fix added. Pieter. LSudlow
Pieter, I'm not seeing any of those problems here. In fact, instead of immediately reverting to 56.72 like I usually do, I'm going to stay with 61.12 for a while and see how it goes. One bug in particular is now fixed. I'm a big fan of the game "Morrowind" and it's had a display quirk with all of the 5x.xx drivers. If I applied any kind of desktop color correction to my machine, the game would launch in all kinds of psychadelic colors. 61.12 fixes that, which is a big plus for me. Anyway, people might want to give 61.12 a try, but be prepared to back out of it if necessary.
bgoodbody
I had 61.11 and ran into trouble with notepad (hangs with CPU at 99%, no titlebae, exc. Even for no file. I installed 61.12 uising the 20.53? file. (but is has this at the top: ; Pieter's INF version 20.52 ; http://www.laptopvideo2go.com An both Notepad and outlook express work . FWIW, outlook always did. There were 3 driver options, I used the last with the capital NVDIA in the name...
LSudlow
It was Pieter's version that you installed. The other two are from OEM infs that were included with this set of drivers. If you feel like experimenting with them, it would be interesting to see how they perform.
Almighty1
Notepad works fine for me in 61.11 and 61.12... Outlook Express does too even though I still read my mail via ssh on remote unix boxes.

mobilenvidia
I've fixed the nView problem. (took hours of testing what caused it) In the end I removed the entire nview preprogrammed keys section.(ie rotate and Dualview) It will no longer be included in future updates (did anybody use them ?) But Notepad is still a no go (not that I use it) Outlook express is a no go either. Notepad is a known problem as the Alienware go5700 does it as well. I must do some more work on why OE isn't working as this is rather a nuisance. BTW, I havn't had any virus's in all my years of surfing. I use ZoneAlarm pro and Norton AV to keep me safe. I get hit by them quite often (especially since starting this site and me being the webmaster) But first my ISP then my arsenal of software keeps me squeeky clean. Pieter. Guest Guest
60.60 is the only real realiable driver for my dell 8200 quadro4 700 Go GL in the 60..... series
oVan
@Pieter I did not have probs with notepad & oe because I don't use these. But the other problems I had were caused by this driver. My overheating problem is perhaps not what it seemed: althought temp got up when undocked, I've managed to reproduce my bsod and it is always when I use Araxis Merge Professional 6.5. The fact that my WiFi doesn't work also with this driver is probably the same thing. As I mentioned in some other thread: I got a bsod with "stuck in infinite loop" error in nv4_disp.dll :) I'm now running on 56.72 with your latest inf again, but this is also not perfect; the standby prob is present, the lid closure prob is there again, althought the maposd3-line has been added. oVan
mobilenvidia
Yeahhhhhhhhhh :) :P :) I solved the problems that were happening above. It's nView DON"T enable nView, it causes the problems. If you want nView don't use 61.11 or 61.12 it will cause problems with Notepad and Outlook express these are only 2 probllems I found while testing there will be more. So INF v20.54 fixes all the problems and gives a working version of driver, but nView is disabled !! Enjoy, Pieter.
mobilenvidia
Ovan, I've been far too busy to update 56.72 in to the 20.5x. I hope to do this soon and this should fix your standby problem. Some have noted that 60.60 has a 10deg temp drop on their GPUs Give this a try. Pieter.
Almighty1
Perhaps that's why I'm not seeing the problem as the Nview was causing problems for me with ICQ ever since 56.72 so I just disabled it.
®®®
what is nView? :)
oVan
My problems were also with nView disabled, as I've experienced problems with UltraEdit text editor crashing on the 40.xx drivers with nView. Pieter, I see that the inf for 56.72 is updated already. I'll give it a try this evening, and also the 60.60. Thanks for your support! oVan Update: The 56.72 driver with standby fix (20.54) does not solve the standby prob (tried both methods). Also, the lid closure prob is still there :)
Almighty1
oVan, Which part of nView are you referring to since the part I'm talking about is the nView Desktop Manager.
oVan
Almighty1, is there any other part? I always disable the nView desktop manager, I don't see any other parts. I do use DualView though, but I think that's not related? oVan
Almighty1
nView is the actual name of everything including DualView but the desktop manager is where the issue was for ICQ atleast.
mobilenvidia
Well that settles it I will disable nView in all future INFs. It's easily enabled by a single right click. What are nVidia upto with nView, this is quite disasterous to have nview the way it is. Completely useless. Never mind, life goes on. Pieter. mobilenvidia
That icon has nothing to do with nView (it doesn't have one) the icon is for Display properties rather a handy function I thought. Yes I remember your advice, but I mod my INFs for functionality, but nVidia have forced my hand with non-working functions. But all advice is greatly received, as I by almeans know not 1/2 as much as I would like about Forceware. Anyway with the little icon nview can be enabled with just one right click. (61.11 and 61.12 not recommended) Pieter.
