My 3dmark05 score with no AA and 1024x768 is 4361. With 4x AA it's 3885.

This driver is :) for FEAR and :) for everything else:

FEAR 1024 x 640 Max Quality

FPS......MIN.....AVG.....MAX

84.12 - 21.......52.......114

84.20 - 21.......58.......144

and now it is even playable in 1440 x 900 Max Quality

FPS......MIN.....AVG.....MAX

84.12 - 16.......31........61

84.20 - 17.......36........77

Results from 3DMark05 and other games are on par with 84.12 set , so this one is definitely a keeper for me!

EDIT: Just tried to play some H.264 trailers from Apple's site. CPU usage is decreased comparing to 84.12. At last I can play Nasa 1280 x 720 trailer @ 30fps (it drops to 23 fps in one place). Use WMP10 / ffdshow combo as it uses GPU & CPU more efficient then QT player (even with postprocessing and noise enabled within ffdshow).

Same as yours! GeForce 6800 Go @ 380 / 680 . Default frequencies are 325 / 600.

3DMark 05: 1024x768 - 4325 , with 4xAA - 3781

Thanks, I missed the info in your sidebar. :) the highest my top fps ever got in that game was like 86 with all of the bells and whistels on. Might have to reinstall and play again!

These are keepers for me. I've tried the latest extreme drivers and still these 84.20 have the best IQ and seem to be faster than anything I've put on my XPS2 so far, give these a try :)

I added the following reply on 84.12 topic,

I have tried 10 tests(3dmark05) on different drivers before that one(84.12), 83.40, 83.50, 83.90 and 83.91 like 2-3 tests on each one.

the result varied but the best I got was 2208 with the 83.50 and 2204 with 83.90 and 83.91

until I ran 4 tests on the 84.12

first was: 2218

2nd : 2215

3rd :2203 (I did this after bios update)

4th :2220 (after I updated the bios , I update the driver again and ran the test)

my laptop specification:

Dell inspiron xps Gen2:

2.00Ghz Pentium M (533FSB)

2GB Ram Dual DDR2 , 533 bus speed

Geforce 6800 Ultra

60GB 7200RPM Hitachi

I ran 3 tests on 84.20 , even the results varied alittle bit but the leatest test was really impressive.

first: 5212

2nd: 5223

3rd: 5233

I think , I will run more tests before I decide that this the best option for me.

Could you tell us the DEV_ID of this card. You can run NERD for readout of DEV_ID in case you don't know.

I have made a small change to the INF and the go7600 naming.

This shouldn't affect the ability to be able to install the driver.

It is defintly there in the INF, UNLESS like the go6600 there are 2 different versions of it.

Only way as RRR has said run the app and give us the DEV_ID it should be 0398 for the go7600 but might be different.

Ok, after few more hours of testing I found that these drivers have worse image quality then 84.12 . In Counter-Strike you can see the shimmering of the textures as you move. It is very noticeable and distracting, so I can recommend going back to 84.12 which have almost perfect iq but are slower in FEAR.

I'm back after a short meddling with ATI. Short story: HP lied when they said an ATI XPRESS 200M was equal to or greater than a 5700 Go.

So my new laptop that's being shipped shortly has an nVidia GeForce 7400 Go 128mb. From the looks of things, this isn't in your inf, except I noticed it in the 79.xx 'Instrumental' driver (I think?)

NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01D8.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go7400 "

So if that could be added to your modded infs soon, that would be great.

Yip it's there, look for this line:

NVIDIA_G72.DEV_01D8.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400/Quadro NVS 120M"

The Quadro shares the same PCI-ID as the go7400.

So you can happily install this with the modded INF.

Hmm, does that mean I might be able to unlock some features and essentially make it a Quadro? =O

This I'm not sure on this, havn't seen too many drivers yet.

But it looks like you should be able to, more easily with the shared PCI_ID

Speaking of the Dell 3007wfp support that supposedly came out in 82.12, and then fixed in 84.12, I'm wondering how (if at all) the Go series cards support the Dell 3007wfp. For those of you unfamiliar with this monitor, it is a huge 30" beast with only a DVI input, and requires a dual-link DVI capable card to drive it. The reference design (and most of the implementations of it) for the 7800 GTX have at least one dual-link DVI output (however each manufacturer gets to decide if they support, 0, 1, or 2 dual-link outputs).

The 3007wfp apparently will only run in 1280x800 (which is the only resolution is lists if it detects a single-link DVI connection) or 2560x1600 (it apparently has no built-in scaling capability to do resolutions like 1920x1200).

I've tried my Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2 both with its original GeForce Go 6800 Ultra, and with my new GeForce Go 7800 GTX, attempting to drive the 30" Dell 3007wfp display at its native resolution of 2560x1600. I've tried the Dell 7800 GTX drivers (78.30), the 84.20 drivers, and a few in between with no luck (only got any display with the Dell drivers, and then only at 1280x800 mirrored display). I've tried using it as a primary, a secondary, and as a mirror to my desktop screen with many driver versions and get no picture at all, even though 2560x1600 is a resolution that comes up. I'm suspecting that the Go version of the 7800 in the Dell Inspiron isn't dual-link DVI output on the back of the computer, or isn't dual-link at all (or it is disabled in firmware or something). I wonder if there's a way to tell if they output in the back of the notebook is dual-link DVI. I know the difference between the cables (the six pins in the middle aren't there for a single-link cable), but the ports all look the same.

Anyone get any version of a "Go" 7800 GTX (or specifically a Dell version) running with this 30" Dell 3007wfp monitor at 2560x1600? If so, what computer/card/drivers are you using?

Alternately, can any technical experts out there answer the question about Delll GeForce Go 7800 GTX and Dual-Link DVI? Could it possibly be simple a feature which can be unlocked with the right tweak? Or does it support it and I've just gotten unlucky with drivers as of yet?

And one last idea, I've got a Dell m170 coming (upgrade to the XPS Gen 2) with the same configuration. I'm wondering if just possibly, Dell upgraded the plumbing from the card to the DVI port in back to be dual-link in the new laptop (it's a long-shot I know, but hey, all I can do is try).

Thanks for your input.

I just extracted the 84.21 and it contains 2 *.inf files nv4_disp.inf and nv4_disp.inf. The nv4_disp.inf has the 6800 and newer while nv4_disp2.inf has GeForce2 MX to some 6800 cards. The nv4_disp2.inf also points to a nv4_disp2.cat that does not exist. So I'm guessing the nv4_disp2.inf was left in there by mistake. I have not installed or tested them yet using Pieters *.inf for 84.20 yet but will report back if I have any problems

while v83.60 dell mobile driver gives me 50C always.

It on purpose. One INF for WHQL, the other for non WHQL'd cards. You can always have a look in our Driver NFOrmation file we spit out for these kind of information :)
