Guest Nerdtalker
I've downgraded back to the 44.03's, the newer ones weren't nearly as fast for me. Perhaps I did something wrong, but I'm sure the 44.03's are much faster in Halo...
mobilenvidia
Nerdtalker, 44.03 is the king of speed especially for DX8.1 and the NV28 (go4200/Quadro4 go700) DX9 performance is not ideal on a NV28 as they were the last of the DX8.1 GPU's released before the FX and DX9 (which still sucked) The go4200 is not far from the go5600/5700 in DX8.1 performance, pretty good considering how old it is. mobilenvidia
56.72 seems to be pretty good and solid. 61.34+ are getting there, nVidia will probably release an official version soon. Pieter
oVan
At the moment I'm running 56.77, except for hibernation/standby issues it runs good. For those who don't use D/Dock or D/View docking solutions, most of the drivers are good... oVan
oVan
Hmmmmmmm :) 61.80 with the default NVDM.INF appears to be fantastic at the moment... I'm running perfect wifi, undocked, docked, standby, hibernation without problems. Temperature is 59°C, not excellent but as long as it's below 60°C I'm a happy camper. I know, I've said it before with other drivers...but so far so good. One minor glitch: when returning from docked status (dualview lcd+crt) to undocked status I get Clone mode with a 4:3 mode, instead of 1920x1200. Is there an easy way to fix that? oVan
Teraphy
oVan, try bit-flipping "WidePanelBehavior" from 0x31 to 0x32.
Guest oxygencube
Hey... first I wanna say "Thank You" to the admins and members! I have a Inspiron 8500 2.5ghz 512mb Nvidia GeForce4 4200 Go and have been wanting to update my driver for months. Just 2 days ago I stumbled across this site and jumped for joy... I just installed the 53.03 (x) driver and am very happy... I noticed increaced frame rate in Ground Controll II and in UT2004... I don't dock or hibernate so I am not runnig into those types of problems. am thinking about getting 3dmark and and tweeking... if I do so I will post results once again Thank You oxygencube
Guest Nerdtalker
Anybody know which driver has the fix for the lines when plaing DVD's in max battery powermizer mode problem? Its really driving me crazy... :) :)
oVan
@Nerdtalker: I've noticed no problems with dvd/mpg/etc, even fullscreen & dualview in 61.80. The other 60-drivers had a lot of problems (red picture, etc) but these _seem_ fine. Not sure if you'll have the same success, but so far 61.80 is going great here. I'm still using the nvdm.inf at the moment and maybe I'll leave it like that. Never change a winning driver? :) oVan

Then you'll see the problem. :)
oVan
Just tried it, works perfect with this driver (at least on my system). The dvd was played with PoverDVD 5. First I tested full screen on my laptop lcd, then in the nVidia control panel I selected "Full screen control: autoselect" and that switched my second screen (Sony F520) into fullscreen 800x600. Same beautiful picture as on the lcd. :) Hope it works for you too...

Guest Balasarius
NVDM.inf? What, exactly, is this file? If it's the .inf file provided with the 44.87 Dell driver... it doesn't work when you put it in with the 61.80 drivers. The update driver applet asks for things that aren't there. Where do I get NVDM.inf that works? Thanks.
Bill
Dude do not use a INF for 44.87 with 61.80. There is a Dell INF (NVDM) for 61.80. Since you asked here is one for the 61.80 driver that I modded. This INF works for 61.80, do not use it for any others. I just took it and enabled extra stuff. Thanks for the one you provided. I'm currenty running 61.80 with Pieter's nv4_disp.inf, and it's working ok. Suspend and WIFI are working. Will test DVD playback later. Bill
For future reference, look at the bigining of the INF. ; Pieter's INF version 30.18 ; http://www.laptopvideo2go.com ; NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP Display INF file ; Copyright (c) NVIDIA Corporation. All rights reserved. [Version] Signature = "$Windows NT$" Provider = %NVIDIA% ClassGUID = {4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Class = Display CatalogFile = DriverVer = 06/16/2004, 6.1.8.0 The last line you see says driver version, if it doesnt match the driver you are installing, do not install it. DriverVer = 06/16/2004, 6.1.8.0 You could really screw something up installing the wrong INF.
Guest Balasarius
I understand that. But where do I find the Dell NVDM.inf for 61.80? The only NVDM.inf that I know of is in the original Dell driver, 44.87. There's an nv4_disp.inf that comes with the nVidia driver. There's a modified nv4_disp.inf that comes from this site. But where do I find the Dell NVDM.inf for 61.80?
oVan
The original nvdm.inf is normally located in the 6180.exe. oVan
Bill
The NVDM INF that I posted was the one from 61.80 that I modded, If you want the original one this is it. It has NOT been modified. NVDM.INF
