GaryHook
the game restricts the resolution to the vram on your graphics card. There is a way round this but i can't remember it, i'll have a quick look can't find it atm, but i think is was sonething like 1. right click on gta iv exe 2. put -norestriction at the end of the file path or something like that Edited December 7, 2008 by GaryHook

Guest MonkeyMhz
Sh0ot how does it run on your rig? I got the GDDR3 version of the 8600GT OC'd with a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, do you think i will be able to push the bugger to medium/high?.
Guest MonkeyMhz
If your scaling the resolution through the command lines I woudlent reccomend it for a increase in quality, it will only help get rid of the low res blurryiness. Because remember GTAIVs quality scales with the resolution, 1680x1050 will give you much higher res shadow maps and reflections than 800x600, or a forced resolution. Guest Crazy
I tried to get the -norestriction method but I cant get it to work. What are the steps I have to take? I have enough memory to play GTA at a higher resolution but it wont let me to.
Guest nismo91
well u just open notepad, write exactly: -norestrictions -availablevidmem 4.0 and save as commandline.txt in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\
