8600M GT HDMI problem

Recommended Posts

System :-

Acer 5920G laptop running XP, 8600M GT graphic card, HDMI (HDCP support) and VGA out.

Problem : -

External monitor connected to HDMI port is not correctly identified, resulting in display driver failing to create proper display registry key for the monitor with valid EDID. There is no problem when monitor is connected to VGA. A proper registry key (ACRAD61) is created, with valid EDID. The built in LCD panel (LPLE100) also has no problem.

Both the LV2G modified 163.71 and Acer supplied 101.38 driver have the same problem.

Vista does not have this problem. The 101.38 driver detects the HDMI connected Sony monitor and creates the correct display registry key SNY02D0.

The attached NERD diagnostic logfile seems to indicate failure to complete EDID extraction.

Would appreciate if anyone could confirm having similar problem, and offer a solution if available.

Thank you.

I had the same problem trying to use my Philips 1080i widescreen. It gave the same error. I'm at a loss to fix the problem.

Thanks for the feedback Duncan.

Could you kindly provide more detail of your setup? Trying to find out if the problem is Acer specific or XP driver related.

The 163.71 driver seems to mess up windows display properties as well. Clicking List All Modes under Adapter tab gives this strange error message sometimes.

It also appears to be responsible for the failure of Viewsonic's EDID Editor and Entech's Moninfo to work properly.

Regards.
