Quadro 140M + XP64 = VGA & != DVI

I am the happy owner of a Dell Latitude D830 with an NVidia Quadro 140M.

Since the machine has 4Gb and we have the licenses I run XP64 on it. Works fine, with pretty much whatever driver from this site.

Because I was smart I configured the TFT to be 1920x1200, so now I have sore eyes.

So I picked up a new Samsung Syncmaster 245B - 24" panel that also does 1920x1200.

My D830 sits in a docking station, which has DVI.

However, there is no way I can get my XP64 to use the DVI with an Nvidia driver. This is what I've tried:

  • XP64 + whatever driver -> DVI works up till "Windows XP x64 edition", after that black screen, only VGA works.
  • XP32 + whatever driver -> everything works 100% (DVI, full acceleration, super)
  • XP64 + no driver -> physical DVI display is OK but no hardware acceleration.

I have some extra partition for testing, so I tried installing clean OS-es - no go.

For instance, my XP32 works flawless with 156.83, so I tried to use the XP64 version of that drivers - no go.

Is there anybody out there with XP64 that has an external DVI monitor hooked up to his 140M?

I am VERY curious - and I really want to solve this.

I have your exact setup and I use dual monitors off my docking station - 1 DVI and the other VGA and have no problems.

I am using the Forceware 163.44 drivers. Maybe plug the analog in and see if you have to do something in the control panel to move the screen to DVI?
