Neon Genesis
is the INF the same of the 177.79?
Guest scZ
is the INF the same of the 177.79? 177.79: ; Pieter's INF version 3.261 177.83: ; Pieter's INF version 3.265 So, no. My question is, in which order I should install the driver and PhysX Driver, it seems that the PhysX Support isn't detected correctly for me... Guest scZ
Oh, I think the INF here is the wrong one. The 3.265 INF seem to be for Vista, because: ; Pieter's INF version 3.265 ; http://www.laptopvideo2go.com ; NVIDIA Windows Vista Display INF file And its not: nv4_disp.inf, its called nv_disp.inf which doesnt fit to the XP32bit drivers... im confused.. Yea I think he made a mistake when uploading the files. If you read at the top of the thread, it says Windows Vista 32bit. Basically 2 threads for 32bit vista up and no xp 32bit. Would it make a difference if we used the xp 64bit inf?

Guest Hannes The Hun
thanks for the correct inf! I did some benchmarking with 3D mark 06, seems to me that 177.79 was slightly faster, but in the meantime I "upgraded" my BIOS version to A09 (DELL trying to fix the nvidia issue), so maybe it's the BIOS that made the result slightly slower 3dmark06 always names my card incorrectly a GS but indeed it is a factory overclocked GT temp was very good, never went over 75 degrees celsius (checked with nvtray), powermizer also fully working PhysX also working perfectly with all the stuff supplied by nvidia in this PhysX pack

Mushu
These drivers are great! For some reason they loaded a little faster than 177.79 for me. It's almost the same performance as 175.95, but with a little more quality. :) I haven't received any crashes yet. I do recommend this driver. :) Edited August 13, 2008 by Shaythong
Neon Genesis
the INF is version 3.261, so it is the same of the 177.79??
wook
No it wont be the BIOS... I've had a look into the BIOS and the only thing that changed was the temperature that the fan comes on. Its now set 5 Oc cooler. So more fan cycling/ more active cooling. The bios wont change the actual performance of your GPU 177.79 & 174.74 are the best for game on my system. Some people state 175.80 is pretty good.
Mushu
@wook: Some people said that 175.80 is good but has bugs in some games. Someone said that 175.95 is the same in performance but fixes those bugs. I'm not sure, what do you think? :)
Lonelobo
Seems to preform the same as v177.19, but powermizer is working fully
TLEnigma
3DMark06 (1028x800, no AA) results: 177.66: 2826 177.70: 2844 177.73: 2847 177.79: 2848 177.83: 2851 (version with 177.79 inf) 177.83: 2847 (version with 177.83 inf) could this difference originate just in the different inf-files? or were there other changes in the driver besides the removing of the physx driver? Guest Guest
Does this INF work with the official driverpack? (includes physx drivers, here: http://nzone.download.nvidia.com/akdlm/dlm...ional_whql.exe)
Michal
When I'm downloading the modded inf it gives me INF version 3.261 instad of 3.265 ... why is that??
Guest Guest
found another INF on the server which is marked as 3.261a here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/infs/175seri...xp/nv4_disp.inf
Michal
So I should use 3.261a instead of 3.265? "is the INF the same of the 177.79? 177.79: ; Pieter's INF version 3.261 177.83: ; Pieter's INF version 3.265 So, no."
Neon Genesis
3DMark06 1280x800 177.79 = 3886 177.83 with 177.79 INF (3.261) = 3889 177.83 with 177.83 INF (3.265) = 3897 :)
wook
to be honest i never tred that version. i stayed with 174.74 for about 2 months, (trying the odd new driver that had good recomendations) until the 177.** series came out. 177.66 was really good.. then 177.79 was even better. Not too shabby for video playback either.
