Asustek has unveiled two new gaming-oriented systems: the G1 and G2 notebooks. The systems will be available with a selection of Intel Core 2 Duo processors (from the T5500 all the way up to the T7600), up to 2 GB of RAM, and will be available with either a 15.4-inch or 17-inch LCD display.

The systems also feature LCD covers with in-mold decorations made the G1 (green) and G2 (red) stand out from the crowd—and the covers feature Direct Flash sidelights, which offer a "graphic intensity indicator" via DirectX 9 so your notebook can let everyone know how massive your on-screen action is getting.

For graphics, the G1 offers an Nvidia GeForce Go 7700 controller with 512 MB of video RAM, while the G2 sports the ATI Mobility Radeon X1700, also with 512 MB of video RAM. Hard disk options range from 80 to 160 GB, and the systems ship with a LightScribe-compatible dual-layer DVD burner. Also on board: a 1.3 megapixel Web cam, optional Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, an ExpressCard slot and TV out. The units also sport an OLED display—dubbed the ASUS Direct Messenger—which shows system messages, status, reminders, and custom messages (even Caller ID) without crowding your screen real estate.

Interesting move from ASUS. I haven't checked the specs exactly, but G1 and G2 are exactly the same laptops, only differnece is GPU and it'S facturer and therefore the color? Keeping the parties (ATI and NV) happy.
