BSOD installing Video drivers in Vista

Every time I install a display driver in Vista 32bit(release version) I get a BSOD telling me "system halted." The screen is quite glitchy looking and I cant read all of it but it appears to say "hardware failure" as well.

So far I've tried uninstalling old drivers first (but the built in MS one auto-installs) then installing the new driver but it still happens. I've even formatted and reinstalled the OS and it still happens.

Any ideas what is causing this? My other PC with Vista doesnt have this problem so I assume its something wrong on this one.
