paura01
Hi to all, hope i don't open something already posted, but i am looking to play these games at 1600x1050 (max resolution allowed by my brand new laptop) but this option is not showed into the setup of the games, only 1600x1200, but of course it won't work...any idea how to config this resolution? Many thanks in advance
Bill
You have to manually edit the configuration file in Doom 3, and many other games, to use that and other widescreen resolutions. See these websites, they have guides for many games, including Doom 3. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/...x.php/Main_Page http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/..._Games_List_-_D http://www.widescreengamer.com/q/quake_4.html

I mean how do I know or I can have all the details setup to the max level? Thanks again!
Bill
Change the details in game then exit, manually config the file for widescreen, then run the game. (you can probably run the highest detail level in doom3 with medium-high AA and AF with a 7900 GTX) Some games automatically override the custom resolution when you go to the graphics configuration. (FEAR does this, for example) On doom 3 its pretty easy, there is an options menu with some simple video settings, with a preset option for the highest detail levels. You will have to manually enable Anti-Aliasing and Anistropic Filtering in the game's menu though, look those up if you don't know what they are. You can also search for tweak guides on google for individual games which will explain how to setup the graphics in each one.
