Guest Trevor Goodley
Hi, I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M3438G with 1Gb memory and GeForce Go 6800 video card. It's about 18 months old (only 1 year warranty in UK). Recently the power supply and keyboard needed replacing and now it looks like the video card is playing up! I get artifacts on the screen - i.e. repeated rows and lines of pixel patterns. This is particularly bad in high res. modes. If I remove the video driver it is much better - i.e. just a few - usually just on the shortcuts on the desktop. Maybe they have been corrupted? With the driver installed, after a while the screen may start to go blank - then return periodicly. Sometimes I get the BOD and the laptop reboots. This never happens with the video driver uninstalled. The video driver hasn't changed since the laptop was new. I have run a diagnostic test on the main memory for 10 hours with no errors found. Does anyone think it could be the videop card at fault. Or perhaps just the video memory? :) It does sound, from this forum that they are prone to overheating! many thanks, Trev. Ice-Tea
Sounds a lot like a dying card, and there have been many dying cards in 3438's
Trev
Many thanks. I'll check out the web site for possible replacement/upgrade. Do you recommend just a straight forward replacement? Also, have you established if the failures are due to overheating? If so, I'll be more careful! Cheers.

I've had people with failing cards even if they never really used it for gaming. If you want a quick, decent fix the 7600 is currently your best option.
