maati
The 8800M GTX and 8800M GTS are finally out! And here are the pictures: 8800M GTX: 8800M GTS: source: http://www.pr-com.de/en/presscenter/pressr...df64ae026d63876 Looks pretty much like MXMIII, though Alienware will release them in a 15,4" notebook for sure. It's not the first time a high-end card is released in a 15,4" notebook, but only the second time since a couple of years.
canismagnus
Just noticed on nvidia's website that they are now available. http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8800m.html Looks pretty sweet, but are handicapped (as usual) compared to their desktop bethren. Still wish I could get one though.

Ice-Tea
Type HE (or IV).. *Cries heavy tears*
jessi3k3
Are you sure it's type IV?
UnknWnSLaYeR
The card consumes 45 watts of power, something that only MXM IV offers if I remember correctly. Btw, any chance you'll offer these any time soon ice-tea? :)
Guest Guest
aw poo gas. i wanted one in my sager 2090... i suppose i'll have to stick with the 8600M GT. =( ah well...
Guest Znakomity
Read this: http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_13290.html <-- nvidia documetacion and see this images below: There is the same slot for III and IV. Now, it depends on what type of MXM is 8800M, if only IV we are crapped, if also HE we will be able to upgrade. HE is compatible with III, like in table upper. Tankkiller
I'm confused :) Will I beable to upgrade my Toshiba Satellite X205-S9349 with the 8800M GTX or GTS?
txqzr4
The Crystal Ball says: "Unlikely" Even if it were . . . . good luck finding a standalone card on the open market for anything less than an astronomical amount of money. ®®®
Open market? Lol. The only "market" there is, is Ice-T's.
Bill
Well looks like I can upgrade (twice). Anybody got a spare $1000 they can give me for Xmas? I will probably eventually get the 8800M GTX later or the 9 series card when it launches (or 8950M GTX?) *runs away from all the jealous old MXM equipped laptop users*

Guest pmcizhere
How about my Clevo M590K..I mean mALX? It looks totally different than those connectors, but then again I've never completely disassembled my video cards...

txqzr4
Open market? Lol. The only "market" there is, is Ice-T's. precisely . . . "good luck finding" :)
txqzr4
Its time for a reality check everyone. You're not going to find any 8800Ms to upgrade your laptops with . . . at least for a very long time and/or at any kind of remotely reasonable price. Its fun to say "I'm going to upgrade to a 8800M" -- but you're living in a dream world.
Guest Guest
From the ratio of side lengths it looks like an MXM type III. The 8800M GTX costs £255 + vat as an upgrade from a 8700M so expect to pay more than that if you can find one...
Ice-Tea
It looks like a HE, which means this is a no-no for all Uniwill users (m5xx0, FSC Amilo out there).
