Hi Kris,

finally i've replaced the thermal pad on my gpu with your new one (6 w/mk i still guess?) and applied some new thermal paste (ocz ultra 5+) on the cpu... now gpu idle temp is around 53°-57° C and cpu idle temp is around 50°-54° in idle... under stress gpu temp is about 65° C average and cpu is about 60° C average... do you think still too high or it's ok?

Thanks

Max

I only use paste or a pad...NOT BOTH!! (insulates the heat)

I prefer to use Arctic silver5 paste... :)

I would like to see those temps go down about 10%.....

Indeed, I've applied thermal pad only on the GPU and thermal compound only on the CPU... anyway, i'm not fully satisfied with temps yet.

Did you..can you.. try using paste on the GPU as well???

I did..It lowered the GPU temps a bit.. ~6degrees..

In doing so the CPU temps fell also...

just a thought.......

Paste on the GPU? mmhhh... don't think it's a good idea because thermal compound it's not electrically insulated... it's a highly risky proposal mate! Must be very, very careful! Why not try using thermal pad (17 w/mk maybe) on the CPU instead? A safer and cleaner solution, don't you think?

I am a bit unorthodox..do not play by the rules...

I remove ANY insulation (ie plastic square tape around gpu cpu)

If I were worried about shorting out my laptop I would never open it...

I want the temps down..So I will do whatever it takes.. risk or no risk...

If it did not help I would not do it..It has worked for me in the past on desktops..

So now I use the same methods modding my laptop!!

You are correct about some risk.. no dought!

"sometime's you gotta say what the f@ck!"

IF I use thermal pads I trim them to pefect size..(little raised square in center of chip)

Any extra is a waste and HOLDS heat!!

Arctic silver5 is non-conductive...

Joking aside... Kris, what are your feelings concerning my new temps?
