Guest Genea
Ok I'm having an issue using my (vista) laptops's S-video out to hook my TV up for use as a secondary monitor. I have a 7-pin s-video to RCA converter with one RCA plug for video (I have a second cable 3.5mm stereo to dual RCA for sound), and I can't for the life of me get it to work. Nothing registers on lappy at all, after restarts and setting changes. Graphics: nVidia GeForce 8400M GS I think it's a driver issue because the force television detection option is greyed out, but will be ticked after I run through the rigorous detection thing. Could someone point me to a driver without the issue please? Well, if it exists. ;]
Guest Genea
Before I forget, it's an HP dv6733tx - if that is of any use. n_n
Guest Prod
i dont think you can do that. i remember back in the day when i used a ATI 9000 M in a dell lap and tried to do that. it wouldnt work. if i remember right you can't convert it to the yellow RCA plug. it has to be s-video or the S-video to HD cable. dont quote me on that, but i am pertty sure it can't be done. Guest Genea
Well I have a friend who has the setup with his desktop system, so I don't understand why it wouldn't be available for a laptop..?
Guest Andrew
Hey, I have the same card... drives in the 163 and, I believe, 167 series work alright (not great) with an s-video to tv hookup. 174 series do not work at all. I'm anxiously awaiting support for s-video out in the 174 series drivers. And powermizer to work correctly. Etc., etc. I wonder how many other companies can get away with selling products that don't work properly until years after they come out?
