Are HP users still stuck with 169.04 to O/C?

hi there, HP bios won't allow overclocking as most of you are aware but is 169.04 the latest drivers that will allow it? I tried upgrading to 177.41 and they reset when you try to O/C so i'm back to 169.04.

I'm not too keen on flashing bios. Any reason why the settings in 169.04 can't be incorporated into newer drivers to allow o/c???

Your assumption is too general; I have no probs to overclock my HP/Compaq 8710w after I got rid of the original locked drivers and their remnants. Just now I'm running 177.40 (original INF) and happily overclocking via Control Panel/NTune.

I think he ment HP users who have nVidia 8600m GS , that has been known to stop overclocking after 169.04 driver... Though you pose a good question , is it possible to use 169.04 and incorporate it to the new drivers so we can overclock them ???

You should try different o/c software like riva tuner. Chances are the fault lies with ntune.
